   Have you ever wondered if you’re getting paid what your writing is worth?
   
   You’ve researched your subject, formatted the writing, looked for pictures, checked for grammar and spelling, spent hours typing to make it look presentable; does it make you think of the work you put in and not be paid what you should?

   Yes I do, and no I'm not . For my own work, being that which I retain the rights to, that simply means that I need to learn more about marketing (getting pretty knowledgeable on that now, got to start writing more hubs on the subject ) and find better ways to get exposure to the right people. For work that I'm creating for clients, that's to get the bills paid, and if I think it's grossly unfair then I can always raise my rates and find the people who are willing to pay it. Right now I only have one active client, who has kept me busy enough that I haven't been looking for others, and he pays me well enough to make me happy, keep my financial obligations taken care of, and still give me plenty of time to work on my own stuff...s'pose I can't ask for much more than that .

   There have been times in my career where I have been paid well for my writing and for that I am grateful. These days in the era of the internet it is not so easy with people who are willing to write for peanuts (eg: 2cents a word). I'm grateful for sites like HP where you can make some money for something you enjoy.

   I think ideally we would all like to become those writers who can do just that, be writers professionally and be able to make a living that we can sustain ourselves with.  The real truth of it is that in many ways hard print is fast becoming a thing for a generation past, and with that comes the realization that the electronic world will likely put an end to those paychecks that used to grace the mailboxes of writers previous.  We all want to be paid a good amount for the hard work that has gone into our individual enterprises but the fact remains that there is only money in it if there is interest in it, and if that interest can be maintained or better yet spread like wildfire through the general public.  I for one would love to get money for the things I write, but at this point I have nearly resigned myself to the idea that if someone just reads what I have written and leaves something meaningful in a comment or response then I will be happy, as for money I guess a career as a teacher is in my most immediate future.
