Well, it happened to my sister in the winter - she didn;t faint but she was coming out of a grocery store with a cart full of things and she slipped while on the way to the car. The cart tipped and fell sideways - she did too and she told me that she noticed people simply walking around and/or over the groceries which were all over the ground. People went about their business. Who cares if a lady just dropped on the floor - hop over her: that seems to be the attitude of many people.

It would be very sad, if it happened here where i live people would just pass by or worse they would come at start starring at you forming and a circle hard to penetrate. And because we have a lot of drunkards, they might as well assume you are drunk. We are living in a time when people don't care for each other.

911 would be called immediately and someone would stay with me till I awoke and the EMS arrived.

If I fainted and collapsed on the sidewalk, I really hope someone would stop and help me and call 911.  I also live in a big city where they are many panhandlers and homeless people just sleeping on the sidewalk.  The thought that I would be one of them just never crossed my mind.  I very seldom drink alcohol, so I don't think I would ever be that woman in the picture.  That is quite sad.

Where I live someone would come along and check to see if you are okay and at least call 911 if you didn't respond.  I live in small town and everyone is helpful and most know each other.

In the city I live in... definitely, I'd get mugged.  I would like it if someone called 911, but I am a realist.

I have passed out in public before while working in a restaurant and it was very embarrassing!!!  Everyone's voice was almost in a muted tone but yet I could still hear them say "OH My! did you see that she fell right down."  Everyone was gasping, it must have looked horrible to them.  Anyway my boss gave me a glass of water and helped me to his office.  I felt better in a few minutes and went back to work.

It happened to my wife; one minute she's walking along the footpath, next she trips on an uneven edge and falls down, injures her ankle and is unable to stand. People who had been right behind her just walked on past, and people who appeared later, assumed she was drunk, drugged, or disabled.

Because she literally could not stand, she had to CRAWL to a nearby store, but of course the fact that she arrived on her knees, just made her look even more 'drunk, drugged, or disabled'.

After trying for several minutes to get someone to stop and listen, she was approached by a guy in the store, who didn't want to let her in, just wanted to move her on, but did finally agree to call someone for her.

The moral is: Don't fall down. And if you do, don't count on the kindness of strangers, there is no such thing any more.
