   If you are a Sci-fi/Fantasy reader, what is your favorite book or series (please list what genre), who is the author and why do you like it?

   That's a tough question, but I would say my favorite for both sci-fi and fantasy would be the Space Trilogy by CS Lewis. There are not many stories that include old-school hard-ish sci-fi, aliens (complete with their religion, languages, and customs), mythological and celestial beings, creation stories, the occult, evil technocrats, romance, cryogenics, Merlin, and a 20th century Pendragon in three books that all work!

   I don't read much Scifi/Fantasy anymore, but when I did, it was The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. It's fantastically written, and there are over 14 books now, I think. Unfortunately, Jordan died a couple years ago, so I don't know what they're going to do to finish the series.
   
   The other series I couldn't put down was all of the Dragonlance books! Mainly, I preferred the ones by Margaret Weiss and Tracey Hickman (they co-wrote them).
   
   I loved these two series because they are imaginative, well-written, the plots are perfect (LOL. okay, so no plot is perfect, but you get what I mean), and of course the fact that they are many books in a series definitely helps.

   Not too difficult for me to choose my favorite, in the Fantasy genre--The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings "trilogy."  I love them because I always can draw parallels with our world and the land of the Shire, with Mordor and Hell, and the fact that evil is destroyed in the end is awesome! (no offense intended to any Satanists or anarchists who may read this!)
   
   But what is the most impressive for me is Tolkein's astounding imagination!  I may be somewhat creative in my mind, but that man was truly gifted!  Who else could have come up with an entire world, and entire language for each race, and be able to create each being with ultra-good, neutral, or ultra-evil motivations.  He was able to write from both the evil and the good side.  His creativity and ability to paint pictures in the mind was, quite frankly, beyond compare.  Wow.  I sound like I'm in love, don't I?

   I haven't read sci-fi or fantasy in years, and only  recently started again.  Currently I'm reading the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin, and it's fantastic.  The detail is intense and the storyline powerful.

   I am an avid Sci-Fi/Fantasy reader, though I prefer Fantasy. For Science Fiction, I recently read this book called "Divergent" by Veronica Roth. It doesn't have much of anything futuristic, but it is truly an excellent story if you like post-apocalyptic fiction. If you prefer aliens, I would definitely recommend "the Host" by Stephanie Meyer (yes, the "Twilight" chick.) Beware though, it is a romance (not surprising, as that is her main strength in writing). I absolutely loved, loved, LOVED "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. For fantasy, I would suggest the "Fever" series by Karen Marie Moning, "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman, and the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. For all these books, I felt they provided me with an original spin on an old idea. As all readers of Sci-Fi/Fantasy know, there are no real original ideas.

      Does "The Host" have an action adventure aspect to it or is it pure romance? A friend of mine has offered to let me borrow it if I want to and I haven't read the Twilight books yet so I'm not sure if I'd like it or not.
