Hmm, I can't say that I disagree in any way with what puts you in the mood to write. I do the same thing at times when I have a chance to write away on something that's my own. It doesn't necessarily put me in the mood though, it just helps keep my mood going. It's just a way to block out the outside world until you feel like letting it in again.
To be completely honest though, life is what inspires me (puts me in the mood) to write. This is why I finally started carrying around miniature composition notebooks so when I have a thought, a curiousness about something, a praise, a desire, or whatever-it-may-be, I write it down as food for thought. Once it's written down, I can always refer back to it for some inspiration - if needed.
