Do you have a saying or quote that gets you through tough times?
A saying I often repeat to myself that works in a variety of situations is ‘There will always be someone better than you and there will always be someone worse than you.' It always grounds me, making me realize I'm not perfect in sports, school, professional situations, but that I do the best I can for me.
Yes I have a bunch I find myself saying them all the time but my pearsonal favroites come right from the bible
I say to myself: "Hopefully, I've learned my lesson and next time I'll be smarter." Also, I keep reminding myself that life goes on and I have to follow no matter what. Or, "Thank God that there is an end to this life. Who would put up with this sh** forever?" (this one is a funny one, and very much true LOL)
i just try to look at the positive side of every situation even when it seems there's none!
I have a favorite quote that really means something to me. Oddly enough I was reviewing Scott Hamilton's Autobiography for Amazon and this quote really stood out. Didn't care for the book but loved this quote.
"Things that happen to you may not be your fault, but they are thoroughly your responsibility."--Scott Hamilton
I love that - and whenever I am tempted to blame someone else for something, I think of that quote.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
From "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley, English Poet (1849–1903).
Print from Vanity Fair Nov.26th 1892
I say "just breathe" a lot!
And also.
If I am on the right path in life then opportunities are going to show up all over the place.
Yes, I've always said "you've got to go through it in order to get to it" and then I forge ahead.
I tell myself to live one day at a time. That is my mantra. How do we do that? What is your mantra? How to be thankful. Guide to being thankful living. read more
I got mine from Lincoln, but it is ancient in origin: "this too shall pass". It reminds us bad times are only temporary.
It also works in good times to keep us humble.
"He who has a 'why' to his existence can bear with almost any 'how'. Neitzche. I first read this quote in Victor's Frankl's book, "Man's Search for Meaning," which analyzed coping mechanisms of people who survived in the concentration camps. This quote helped me through one of the darkest times of my life. Find your "why" and you will know the "how".
Yeah, my favorite Bible verse:
Philipians 4:13; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I always remind myself that 'this too shall pass' and that however tough things might seem, they always get better
I do have a saying which helps me see more clearly in difficult times.
It is 'Handsome is, as Handsome does'. It came from my Grandmother, and my understanding of it is - judge people by what they actually do or the way they act rather than just by how they appear or what they say.
It helps me, not always instantly, but when I really want to decide if someone is a reliable, honest person, or if this person is someone I'd be proud to be considered a friend of.
We never care when we are happy and confident. It's only during the tough times our confidence will be low , I remember the words of Abdul Kalam
"Man needs his difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy success." This helps me keep going thinking that, success is awaiting for me.
This is my personal favorite for tough times:
"It’s not the load that brings you down. It’s the way you carry it." ~ Lena Horne
The Knowledge that we are never alone calms the troubled sea of our lives and speaks peace to our souls. -A.W. Tozer
everything happens for a reason...
that helps me every time. I mean you can feel it deep within you that things just don't happen randomly, so even the bad things happen for a "good" reason. Like you have to learn something from it.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. - The Dali Lama
Morning, it nice to see that someone really is in need-but please understand you're not alone.
(My Saying & Quote):
You may feel targeted by hell, your world may be crashing around you. Those closest to you may not show it, but they are hurting, too. So, don't yield to self pity. Pity parties merely postpone your victory. You are not alone.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world."
Be Blessed
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity. An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. - Winston Churchill
"That which does not kill me can only make me stronger" is one of my true favorites.
Its not the lion in the fight, its the fight in the lion that counts.
I trust in the Lord.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
This means even if I end up in prison, or even becomes a beggar, I know that everything works for the good. If my hardships in life glorifies the Lord, so be it. Whatever exalts and glorifies Him is my delight.
'This too shall pass' has been one of the many sayings that I use and share with others when going through tough times.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. It has gotten me through some tough times.
I just thnk to myself "no worries". I have faith that all will work out as it should, and all I can do is the best that I can do.
Best wishes
Francis McDormand had an inspired line in the movie "Almost Famous" that she delivers to the lead guitarist of the band just before he walks on stage:
"Do your best. Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid."
-When the situation calls for it, channeling the sentiment of that line provides me with a rapid feeling of bravery & confidence in the face of adversity.
Somewhere along the lines I read an article with the following quote for dealing with stress: "Negative energy is wasted energy." I try to remember that when I'm under pressure. Pending time grumbling about the situation isn't going to make it any better. It's better to focus on constructive things-- like surviving my current crisis!
When times get tough for me, I have gotten into the habit of telling myself the following:
"This too shall pass."

Do you have a favorite saying, or quote?A long time ago a man once told me "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see". I never did check to see if this was a mainstream quote. I just preferred to keep it the wisdom of the man who said it to me. This phrase has stuck...
