It can be, I've tried them before, but I often lose interest in them. I prefer dream journals, its so interesting to look back and see what kind of weird dreams I've had.

For some people writing is like... breathing. It surely is a good habit. Maybe even some kind of therapy. Sometimes you have thoughts that others might find strange or annoying when you share them, or you just don't want to share your thoughts with others because you are not sure of their reaction. So you write. Then you read. Then you compare what you were like and what you have become.

Writing is all the time a good habit. It can make you express , and at same time it can make you lear n something from others.  It can make your production and fight stagnation. It can make you great and famous one day.

Some people enjoy the way of getting all their thoughts and emotions out of themselves and down on paper, while others simply enjoy documenting the events of their lives in a diary. Remember one of the famous quotes “The positive thing about writing is that you connect with yourself in the deepest way, and that’s heaven. You get a chance to know who you are, to know what you think. You begin to have a relationship with your mind.” — Natalie Goldberg

First off, your question made me chuckle, as I did not know what "dairy" writing was... do you write on a cow's back or something?  Amazing how a typo can change the meaning of the question eh?

Anyhow, to answer your intended question, I do not keep a diary.  I do, however like to journal my thoughts.  It is not a strict daily exercise, but rather more an as-and-when set up.  If I encounter something that influences my life I write it in my journal.
Numerous times I have gone back over old journal entries and re-learned the point that I truly thought I had already learned.  It goes to show that great truths and revelations are timeless.

    Good question...

Yes, I think it is a very good habit. It helps you to express you daily thought and sometimes relax you from your daily life tension. After a long days, when you have time to read your diary, you also feel good to remember your past activity.
