    Just write the book you have always wanted to write without worrying about ebook or brick and mortar publishing.  Get that story down, and edited and then look into the ebook publishing. I have one published with Amazon and it is quick and easy.   I also published with Xlibris.com which was a nice experience--although they have gotten very "sales" oriented - I get calls from them all the time now.

    Like duffsmom said, writing an ebook is no different than writing a traditional book. Work hard to develop your story and write a first draft. Get some close friends (who are familiar with writing and your genre) to look it over and offer critiques. Revise it and then start to assess which route will be best for you. Who knows, you might discover that traditional publishing is the better route. If you happen to be writing in a popular genre right now, agents and publishers will be on the look out for it.

    Writing an ebook is a good and effective manner to do it and sell your book online.  However, you need to have lots of marketing resources or help to launch it successfully.  Once you have written a an ebook you can launch it via paid or free services. 

    You can check out book baby, tango, or lulu or smash for more information on what is required for you to launch an ebook.  And all this information is available to you with compliments too.
