Can anyone suggest a book for me to read?

I'm open to just about anything! I recently read the Hunger Games. Some of my favorite authors are Rowling, Hopkins, V.C Andrews, Orwell, Bradbury, Christie, Chomsky. Like I said, I'm open to anything! Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I always recommend my favorite book -- "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe series by C.S. Lewis is a great series of 7 books. Very entertaining and engaging.

I'm just starting one I am enjoying.  The late Nora Ephron's book on being a woman, "I Feel Bad About My Neck and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman."

Did you read "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" from the Hunger Games Trilogy?  I just finished "Divergent" by Veronica Roth.  Like the Hunger Games it is for Young Adults but is very compelling.  Have just started the second book, "Insurgent."

The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan is good. Anything by Dave Barry is great if you want some humor in your day. I also enjoyed "The Giver" and I'm once again re-reading the Harry Potter series. A couple others I liked are "Little Women" and "Ender's Game."

If you're interested in trying a documentary-type book, I HIGHLY recommend "God Grew Tired of Us." I'm usually not too interested in that sort of literature, but I really enjoyed this one.

You could try going to the library and just randomly selecting a book that looks like it could be good. I did that (pulled out "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss) and ended up buying the book. Turns out, though, that it's the first of a trilogy that's not complete yet. But the first two are done and published and I suppose I recommend them, too. smile

My hubs are dedicated to literary reviews, so you can check out my summaries and reviews and see if any stand out to you smile I've only written six so far, but there's some variety in the genres of books depending on what type of book you feel like reading!

The "Thursday Next" series by Jasper Fforde.
You won't regret it, I promise.

After I read the first Harry Potter book when I was a kid, I went to a book store, and I saw a book in the young adult section that said "If you like Harry, try Diana!"  The book is part of the Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones.  She is now my all time favorite author.  I even love her more than JKR!  She writes mostly fantasy young adult novels.  Anyway, she honestly changed my life.  I recommend her novels "Howl's Moving Castle," "Fire and Hemlock," and "Deep Secret."  Beautiful writing.  Deep, fascinating characters.  Fantastic plots.

Leann, have you seen the movie "Howl's Moving Castle?" I've seen it a couple times now and will likely see it again. Probably soon since it's on Netflix instant play! smile

I have seen "Howl's Moving Castle," and I love it!  It's actually the movie that my husband and I watched on our first date.  The book and movie are very different, but they are both fantastic in their own ways.

Last winter I read "The Legend of Holly Claus" by Brittney Ryan to my children.  I found even myself fully engaged in the story.  Another favorite of theirs and mine was "The Hobbit."

If you liked the Hunger Games, you will most likely enjoy the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. There is actually a Dystopian Teen Sampler available on Amazon that lets you preview Divergent and several other books that are similar to the Hunger Games. I think this sampler would be very helpful to you. If you're having trouble finding it, I've linked to it in my Hub on Divergent Chapter 1.
