Sometimes if they ask. My sister is on here, So I think she has read a few. She has commented on a few of them. I wish she would read more. LOL
Yes. Actually, I ask them to read it as to help me correct something and so I can hear there thoughts. Sometimes they catch things I miss!!
Until I went to college, I did. Looking back, it was a mistake. Their pretend encouragement had no depth, and it undercut me. My father owns every book I've published - and hasn't read one of them.
Getting 100 followers on HubPages was a real breakthrough for me. I could say to myself, "Why am I wasting time trying to get one person to read what I write, when a hundred strangers are more interested?"
I wish I'd had the courage and clarity to do that about 35 years earlier. Now, I write and publish, and encourage others to do so. Whatever your family may think, there is an audience for your work out there.
And please, don't show your work to anyone before you think it is ready to publish, unless you have an extraordinary mentor and editor!
No,maybe because i think that my English are not so good enough to read them.I wouldn't bear their criticize for my mistakes.
I am relatively new to writing so I am still a little shy about letting people know that I write. That is why I write under this pseudonym Gamerelated. The only person that I let read my writing is my girlfriend. I have her proof read my Hubs so that I don't have grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors.
The drawback about not letting people in my immediate circle read my writing is that I am disadvantaged when it comes to getting traffic to my Hubs. I could get more traffic if I shared my writing on Facebook.
My mother and I both love writing, and whenever we write a piece, we normally let each other read it and check for grammar, spelling, etc. I like when my mother reads my pieces, or if I talk to her about them because she's always honest, and tells me if it could be better, and she gives great tips on how to make it sound/read better.
Yes. I encourage them to read and they are very candid so they share their views with me afterward. I know I can count on them for straightforward sincere reviews of what i write. If what they say is clearly evident I revise or take down the hub.
The only member of my family who'd be even remotely interested in the stuff I write about would be my brother, but he doesn't spend a lot of time online so I don't think even he reads many of them...
At first I shared on facebook, but now I rarely do, only if it's a subject I think they'll be interested in. Now I let my hubs sink or swim on their own. One of my daughters has read some. The rest don't care and neither does my husband.
There is nothing stopping them. Everything is out there on the net, at least the stuff I think is ready.
I honestly have been hurt because my family could care less about my writing. I wish they showed more interest in them.
Well look how many followers you have, some people want to read your stuff. I used to talk to my hubby about my hubs, but now I don't even try. If I started to make more money at it, then he'd care, now it's just a time waster.
I laugh and say to my family: " When I'm rich and famous from writing, you'll wish you had read Mama's writings!" I think they secretly know that will never happen!
I ask my boyfriend to proof-read my Hubs before I publish them - one pair of eyes is better than two after all - and I share the Hubs that I think my friends would enjoy on Facebook, so it's up to them if they think it sounds interesting and they read it or not.
I used to write Harry Potter fanfiction and I would hide that from my friends and family - it's a little bit embarrassing telling your friends just how much you like a book! Well it is for me anyway haha.
Sometimes I ask my husband to read before I post a hub to get another opinion. It's very helpful to have his opinion on what I wrote to see if it is clear and interesting to read.
My family is welcome to read my writing. However, they don't seem to care about what I write. My partner prefers his video games, my parents only care for grades and jobs, and my siblings have plenty of other things to do. So, no one bothers with my writings.

Do you feel it's just plain rude for a hubber not to follow you back?
by Jesse James 13 years ago
When I first joined Hubpages, I went, as I call it, click crazy. I was just following everyone I could in hopes they would follow me and read my hubs. Soon I realized that half of the people I followed weren't even writing on Hubpages anymore. There are so many that have wrote 2 or 3 great hubs, in...
