    What's your favourite quote?

It can be anything, and useful to you in any situation, for example if it cheers you up when you're feeling down, or if it motivates you to be more active. My favourite quote is "Every night I look up at the freckled sky and fall in love with the universe all over again. I will be counting the stars for the rest of my life." I think it shows my love of nature and my wonder at the world.

Great question this morning! I have many, but being an animal lover, my favorite is:
"The more I see of man, the more I like dogs". ~Mme. de Staël . I've also come up with a few of my own (in case I'm famous one day, people can quote ME!) One of my own favorite quotes is "Don't let your tears become the ocean that drowns you." - Lisa A. Tippette  Feel free to quote me on that.... lol!!

Great question.  I don't know if I have a favorite quote, but here's one I really like - "Every artist was at first an amateur."  I think it reminds us that life is all about learning.  No one starts off having all the answers.

Great quote! I think it could also mean that everyone, with enough work and dedication, is capable of greatness.

A simple yet completely true statement which is always true: "...that which you understand, from that you are liberated."

That's a great quote! I think it's true that a lack of understanding is often what leads to fear (although sometimes the opposite is true, knowing too much about for example illnesses isn't great either haha). Thanks for commenting!

A question we all adore and which although has been asked before, only just last week, we never tire of answering. Forgive me for not having only one. I've put them in order of importance to me:

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
    —Gandhi

"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." ---Elie Wiesel (Wiesel is the author of 36 works dealing with the moral responsibility of all people to fight hatred, racism and genocide)

We are what we repeatedly do; excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
    —Aristotle

Greece isn't a democracy now it's run through a troika - three foreign officials that fly into Athens airport and tell the Greeks what they can and can't do.
    --Nigel Farage

    Thank you for the question.

My favourite quotes usually depend on situation I find myself in. Such as:

    - "Fascinating." (accompanied with eyebrow raise, tehee. When feeling geeky, use this one big_smile )

    - "Don't get mad. Get everything." (one of my favs from First Wives Club movie. When feeling vengetful...)

    - "Always expect the worst. You won't be disappointed." (I think this is from Rage for Revenge book by David Gerrold. Also, quite true...)

and last but not least - hear the words of wisdom:

    - "Never eat yellow snow."

    1.  '----the woods are lovely, dark and deep------'
'-----and miles to go before i sleep--------------'
2.' You can never learn anything by doing it right.'
    3. ' To err is human, to forgive is divine.'
These are some, which I can recollect right now. But there are many, which inspire and motivate me.

Jerry Seinfield, one of my favorite comedians, said this with respect to girls fighting each other, "Men think if women are grabbing and clawing at each other there's a chance they might somehow, you know . . . kiss."

I'm going to use this quote in a hub I'm writing entitled "Why I Love to Watch Girls Fight." I was motivated to write this hub last night when I went over to the local pub and watched girls fight. Rowdy Ronda rocks!

There's an English show called Black Books where Johnny Vegas makes a guest appearance and has the line 'girls! don't fight... and if you're gonna fight, fight nice... with pillows and jim jams (pyjamas)' It's a pretty funny line!

    I have several:

    - "I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken... and I'd rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as I lived."

    - "Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds... it dies of weariness, of withering, of tarnishing."

    - "The darkness that surrounds us cannot hurt us. It is the darkness in your own heart you should fear."

    - "The day we lose our need for dreams is the day the human race forfeits its soul."

    - "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster... when you gaze too long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes back."

One of my many favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson is: "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." This reminds me of a higher power (in my case God) and the fact that he is ever present in my life.  Motivation: As long as I continue to work hard, be faithful and true to myself then I can accomplish those goals which I have set for this immediate time as well as the future.

My favorite quotes often come from the same source, Winston Churchill.

"If you're going through Hell, keep going."  -- My personal favorite

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen."

"History is written by the victors."

I've got lots of favorite quotes but this one is something that I can never forget:
"Yesterday is History, Tomorrow's a Mystery, Today is a Gift, Thats why it's called the Present"

I first heard it from a TV series I watched and was also used from the movie Kung Fu Panda if I'm not mistaken. It's very catchy and I like it's meaning. It's very simple. The quote explains itself that's why I like it.

"A book is, for as long as it lasts, a state of being. So reading for me, is closer to meditation, or to being drunk, or to dreaming than it is to anything else. The wonderful thing is that the kind of dreaming you get from a book makes real sense." -Anne Enright

I love quotes and it was hard for me to pick just one. This one puts in to words so perfectly how I feel about reading.

"Love, not as a surge of passion, but as a choice to commit to something, someone, no matter what obstacles or temptations stand in the way. And maybe making that choice, again and again, day in and day out, year after year, says more about love than never having a choice to make at all." -Emily Giffin

This quote speaks to how I feel about love and relationships.

    Great question!

We are the one designing our life as to what path to follow, where it will lead, whom to be together, when to start and pause for awhile, and how colorful you want it to be. Above all, let God be the center of it.

My best quote for happiness is  that :

'We have all seen folks who have nothing and have a difficult life style and are happy. We have also  all seen wealthy folks who are obviously miserable, even if they are married and are presumably in love'

Being happy is a choice and comes from within and not from what happens outside of us.

I have 4. Three have been tattoo'd on my person
"Not all those who wander are lost" - Lord of the Rings - tattoo'd in Elvish on my R foot
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony" - Gandhi - tattoo'd in Hindi on my L foot.
"If, by my life or death I can protect you, I will" - LOTR, in English on my L bicep to have my children's names added as they arrive.
I actually am not a LOTR fanatic - i just loved the quotes!.
The other is "I'd rather be hated for you I am, than loved for who I'm not" - Anon.

I try to live my life by these, as well as one other train of thought (rather than a quote) - be the person you wish others to be to you.
