   Would fiction, poems & poetry get much traffic on HubPages?
   
   My girlfriend enjoys writing her own poems and poetry and we have seen a few hubbers who seem to mostly post fiction stories and/or poems & poetry. We was curious if this those type of hubs get any traffic?
   
   She is trying to decide if it's worth her time to create an account, fill out her profile and post some hubs of her work.

   A lot of the traffic that comes to the site is from people requiring technical information, or people writing blogs on new technology, I have found a small audience for my writing. However I do not generate a lot of direct traffic, I have an audience of readers from other sources.

   I have found that hubs that are fiction and poetry do not get the traffic that non-fiction informational pieces get.  Very few people (I think) surf the web looking for poetry or fiction to read.  People out there searching through Google, or whatever, are looking for information on a particular subject.

      While I think that you are absolutely right, that is is the informative or DIY pieces that get the overwhelmingly larger portion of the traffic; I also have seen an ever growing number of hits to my poetry.

   I write in several different genres, including poetry and fiction,  and I am coming up on my two year mark here at HP, and have to say that I have found acceptance of both my fiction and poetry hubs to be overwhelmingly positive.  In fact, in the case of some of my poetry, I have found that although they, (my poems), may produce a smaller daily number of views, their over all performance is more consistant than some of my informative, DIY,  or news related hubs.  Would it be worth her while?  This is a question that only your friend can answer, based upon what her expectations or requirements are.  Is she looking for a platform where she can publish her work, get insightful and constructive comments and criticisim, while honing her craft, and maybe make some money?  Is she looking solely to make money?  Hub Pages is a great site for writer's of all genres, experience, and skill levels, in that it is a community of writers, who actually care about the writing, and who are for the most part, friendly, helpful, welcoming, and supportive of each other.  In the past two years I have experienced very little snarkiness or snobbery,  but I have gained experience, insight, and knowledge, and I believe myself to be a better writer for it.   If it were my friend, I think that I would tell her to give it a try to see if she likes it; and if I were one to place a bet, I would lay odds on her sticking around.

   In answer to this question, "Yes". I have written fiction and placed it here on HubPages. In the past have gotten traffic.Tell your girlfriend to start an account, and put her work here. She can even earn some money with placing ads on her HubPages. I look forward to seeing her work.

   They already do.  Have you not surfed this site?  You only have to try in order to take the first steps towards your dream.  Your girlfriend will find much more than she could possibly imagine by becoming a member of this site!  Advise her to step out there and give it a shot!

   There are lots of great poets here, and your girlfriend will enjoy getting her work out there and networking with other poets, if nothing else. The community here is great!  A lot of our poets get readers and even move on to publish their work elsewhere. Some publish poetry almost exclusively and love it! I have a variety of hubs, but about one third of what I publish is poetry. I enjoy it even when my poems doesn't get as much traffic from Google. I do have some poems that are very highly ranked that have titles that attract specific searches--topics people are looking for, such as a Mother's Day poem. I have also found that my poems that have some narrative with them explaining the situation or background get move Google views.
   
   Yeah, and if she does join, she will definitely have to check out epigramman! He is an inspiration on HubPages to all poets. Hope this helps!

    The only poem I have posted has only received 46 reviews since I posted it earlier this year.  It has been published in paper/audio form before, so I figured it would get a lot of hits.
    
    I would say no.  However, it's still fun even to see that one person would look and read it, and it doesn't take that much time to do it.  It won't make money, but it would provide satisfaction that it was read.

       I and several other hubbers I follow post poetry all the time.  We receive comments and feedback.  Poetry is actually a huge success on HP.

    Poetry doesn't usually get much traffic unless you have a cool following who spread your work far and wide.  Generally you're lucky to get 300 hits on one poem.  One of mine has hit just over 1,000.  I think it's the title that's doing it.
    
    Fiction writers need a good reputation and followers to get much out of their work here.  That's not to say your friend shouldn't have a go.  She just may get the audience she's been looking for.

    I mostly write poetry and have a good following and quite a few comments on my hubs; around 60 +, but many reads (hits). If it is what she loves to do then it is worth it. I just published my first poetry book from poems I did here and then a few I kept hid back for surprise. I think there is a 400 word preference on hubs and if she can't make poems that long; which can be boring I know having done so many myself sticking to rules, then perhaps she can add a little story or as I have noticed other hubbers doing, do more than one poem per hub! If she loves to write, this is the place to do it! She will love it I am sure.

    Yes, I have written some poems on hubpages. I am getting traffic from Google. Some of my poems become featured as indexed by search engine and Google.

    yea I think it does...especially if it is creative and paint a real picture of what the author is writing about in the readers mind... she should be creative and put efforts in her writing
