How do you feel when the readers seem to be unable to understand the message you wanted to convey?
A writer writes to convey a particular message via the writeup - be it a poem, story or article. Has it ever happened that despite your best effort and simplest explanation you could manage, people still misunderstood completely? How did you feel, what did you do? Did any improvements helped? Any tips for people who face such a situation?
Good afternoon:) I think this would be a great prompt for another article on the same topic.
Have a happy day!
Kerry
Ask them what they thought you meant. Ask them what in the writing made them think that. Have them be very specific. Go and revise those parts of the work because now you know what confuses people.
Ooooh, yeah, it's always disappointing when your writing doesn't come across the way you intended.
First, you need to be aware of your audience. You really need to try and know them as intimately as possible: their background, their culture, their experiences, their frame of reference and make sure that your writing matches.
Then, you want to make sure that your writing is clear. You want to make sure that you've used the proper word choice, elaborated where you needed and that everything flows and makes sense.
And like Sylvia pointed out, it doesn't hurt to ask for feedback from the very ones you want to read it!

How will an atheist best prove the denial of God?When I discuss with few of my Athiest friends about why I am a theist, I get rude response from them that if God had existed, there would not have been misery on Earth an so on. But to me that does not fit as an excuse. That is why I post this...

Do your favorite authors dumb down their writing to attract more readers, and do you?I saw a reference to this practice on a HP post recently and it got me wondering. I had never even thought about doing this. Just wondering if it is widespread on HP and beyond.

Writers, how do you feel about plagiarists and why do you feel that way?As a writer, how do plagiarists make you feel? Do you think it's no big deal if someone steals words and passes them off as their own work, or do you think it's just as bad as stealing something physical?Personally, I find...

Does time seem to stand still when you write? When you pick up a pen and paper or open your laptop and start to write; does time seem to stand still? Do you look at the clock and realise four hours have passed in what seemed like minutes?
