I feel the same way too. But I've heard of some literary writers (or painters) who were not not recognized as such during their time, but after the passing of times, became so great and were set as the standards in their chosen endeavor.
I know, but I believe times have changed as we have evolved into appreciating an artist when we see one. Maya Angelo is recognized in her time and so is Barry Watson, one of Jamaica's most famous painters. I think a poet is a poet.
