Where's the best place to start a free blog?

I can't afford to pay for a blog right now, and already have one on blogger.com I just want to make sure, before I start another blog there, that there isn't a better free web hosting site that I don't know about?

Hi Karen, Blogger is great and I have used for my free blogs in the past. However, I would recommend that you try out Wordpress - I like the interface a bit more and it gives you good practice if you ever decide to get a self-hosted blog and use a Wordpress template to build it.

Thanks to both of you Helene and Krista. Someone told me today that you can't put much on their blog though before they tell you it's full and you have to pay??? Have you run into that?

Blogger is definitely the most popular free blog these days. If you want to pursue paid options, it may be worth pursuing Wordpress. However, many bloggers make the transition from Blogger to Wordpress without too much trouble so that option is still always open in the future.

WordPress is wonderful. However, I have to say it can be a bit confusing when you first start. There is so much to learn with their interface. It's a lot different than Blogger.

If you are serious about blogging then definitely Wordpress... There is a learning curve that part is true but it offers so much more than Blogger.

Hi Karen, thanks for asking this interesting question, because I have been thinking about this myself many times, since today if we spend money to pay for a website, we might not earn that money back from that site; so we are all looking for free blogs that might also be able to earn some money for us.
Now, you have already a blog on blogger.com and you are writing in Hub Pages, there is no much that I can add to that, but at the same time I am following your question in the hope that somebody knows something else that would interest us.

If you want to monetize your blog using ads but do not want to pay for stuff like hosting etc  then blogger is the way to go . It gives you a bit of freedom if you know how to tweak around HTML . There are also some widgets available that will help you to customize your blogger blog.

Blogger I use.  I use type-pad also; it's a few bucks a month but the blog looks better, has a few more features, and gets picked up by the search engines better.

I use Blogger, and I've been quite happy with it so far.
