Have you (or someone you know) ever been related to a fictional character by yourself or others?
Authors and script writers sometimes develop characters which are not just powerful, but also realistic. Sometimes, in fact, these characters are inspired by real people. Things can happen the other way round, we can relate fictional characters to people around us. So has this happened to you or someone you know? Do you know a real person who can be related to a fictional character? Which is the character and why was the correspondence made? What was the intensity of that correspondence?
I'm afraid not, anusha. However, in my local cafe I was hailed as being the father of one of the young men behind the counter. I was with my wife when this happened, and I riled her by looking at the young man, hesitating and asking what his name was, and where and when he was born. I am still hailed as the boy's father three years later, but now when we enter the cafe, my wife is always sweetly sarcastic when she asks if I want to be served by my son.
An author friend always uses her real-life friends' character traits for her fictional characters, as probably most writers do.
John McDonald, the author of "Cape Fear" and many other novels, wrote a book called "Condominium" about people who live on the Florida Cays along the gulf coast and ride out hurricanes. It was dedicated to a group of people who were friends with John McDonald and who actually used to ride out the hurricanes on those tiny gulf coast islands. My mother-in-law was one of the people he listed, because she was well-known in the 1950's and 1960's for her crazy hurricane parties! She died of cancer before the book came out. I think she would have loved it!
Okay, I will admit it. I have been compared to Lucy Ricardo. I do not have red curly hair and I am not married to a Cuban band leader. I will leave the rest up to you for you to decide why my friends thought I was like Lucy! LOL
Great question - thanks for asking!
These co-relations can be funny. Sometimes I find parts of myself similar to some character. And somehow it does make the reading/watching all the more interesting. Their pain becomes ours and their happiness delights the heart. Great Answer.
