How Many Rejections Before You Were Published?
Any writers out there are published by a big publisher? How long did it take you to get there and how many rejections did you receive before being accepted?
I'm not published by a big publisher, but I did rack up 52 rejections from literary agents. I heard that Stephen King had a wall full of rejection slips and Harry Potter was rejected more than ten times. So, it's a very common part of the process. The hardest part isn't necessarily getting the rejections, it's running out of places to submit. Eventually there are no more places to market that particular book and you have to switch to a new one.
I decided to self-publish through Amazon KDP and Create Space. Make a lot more money than I did through main stream publishing. http://craftdrawer.hubpages.com/hub/Suc … ith-eBooks
I sent query letters to probably 40 or 50 different agents over a period of almost three years and was rejected every time. While most of them seemed to enjoy my work, none of the 3 or 4 who seemed the most interested had the time "to take on a new, unknown author" - their words, not mine. My solution was to self-publish; however, at this time my writing is more of a hobby. From other people I've talked to and things I've read, it would seem that it takes, on average, about five years and many rejections before you get accepted. Don't give up if you really want to go the traditional route.

I understand there's no reason to submit new articles to niche sites because staff get to those first, but I'm debating whether to go through my old articles to submit them. Is this something anyone here does with success?

Within the last few weeks, the Q & A editor has rejected my answers to people's questions, giving vague reasons for it. It's getting to the point where I want to turn the whole thing off -- it is a hassle to research the answers only to have them bounced by HP. If it were once or...

I was rejected from Google AdSense due to insufficient content.I've only posted one hub thus far, so that makes sense, I guess, but the rejection notification said I need more complete sentences on my site. I'm confused. I'm definitely writing in complete sentences! Can anyone advise? Thanks.

Well, darn. My application for the eBay Partner Network was rejected. They don't share their reasons, so I have no idea why. Anybody have a clue? After doing tons of Web research on folks who've been denied, I can guess randomly off the top of my head some possible reasons,...

I got rejected too in Google Adsense. But I figured that's because I only got 1 hub.So my question now will be, how many hubs will I need so I get approved? What other things should I do to be approved?

Why wasn't I accepted into the Apprenticeship Program?I've noticed a lot of people talking about being accepted into the program and I'm just wondering why they passed me up? I have good quality hubs and I'm so eager to learn more. Tips, anyone? Has anyone else been rejected?
