Where can I get honest and reliable freelancing jobs?
I have been applying on Elance, and I do trust the website, but I was hoping to find some other options as well. So many seem so shady and unreliable.
Have you tried Webanswers? This is a very reliable website where you ask or answer questions posted by other members and if your answer gets chosen by the person who asked the question and he/she awards your answer then you get paid by AdSense. With only 21 awarded answers, I got paid £64.00 after three months on the site. The only thing with this is you have to be actively asking or answering questions daily but it is worth it. Some people are earning £100 a month or more.
oDesk is another site similar to Elance. PeoplePerHour. You can also look at jobs.problogger.net. People post blogging jobs and you can apply to them. There's a lot of stuff out there, just takes a bit to search for it all.
From honest and reliable people needing writing done. It may seem like somewhat of a non-answer, but it's the complete truth. If you want to hone your skills with open-submission, places like Yahoo! Contributor Network and Examiner pay relatively decent for the work. On Helium, pay for unsolicited content isn't great, but they have custom assignments you can apply to that pay fairly decent as well. Try putting in your resume on big magazine and newspaper sites, and always check sites like Cracked, Huffington Post or other content-driven sites for the opportunity to submit your work. There is also the possibility of starting your own niche site, signing up for affiliate programs on your own (there are TONS out there), and getting your name out while earning an income that way.
I started out on Elance, and got a lot of great customers -- some of whom still are my clients -- but I also got a lot of bad ones. The site is just a marketplace, and really doesn't say a thing about the people with whom you'll be working. Elance and oDesk are now owned by the same people, and last I knew are working on merging different aspects of the sites, but it may be well worth keeping an eye on those marketplaces. I'm also on Scripted and, though I haven't done much there myself yet, the pay seems okay and a decent number of jobs pop up.
Feel free to save my name as more questions pop up . I've been a full-time freelance writer since 2007, it is the only income for my family of five, and I'll happily share my trials and errors wherever they might help others in a similar situation.
Another place is http://www.freelancers.com
I hope this helps.

I am looking to make money by offering article writing services. Can you suggest how to find clients for this. I have tried sites like Elance, Odesk etc with no success. I would appreciate if someone can help me get work or offer work.

Just wondering why we can't put our tracking tokens onto a WebAnswers answer?

Has anyone had any luck with WebAnswers?I heard this is another way to make money similar to HubPages except you just answer questions. Can anyone provide actual numbers on earnings, and maybe compare them to your HubPages earnings?
