Say Goodbye To The BMW

Bus Rides

                      Oh Dear!

WE´ve swopped our BMW

for a bus pass.

Left our sunshine home(so sad)

To greet the green,green grass.

No more desert days,

Just a black and gloomy sky.

And we´ve swopped our BMW

For a bus pass.!

We walk like snails on ¨go slow¨,

When Winter comes , then more so,

So let´s just all be glad

We´ve got a bus pass.!

Uphill is near impossible,

Our legs give out, though leaner,

´cos we´ve left our bright blue Beamer,

for a country so much greener.,

We trundle down the lanes

on a bus with shaky frames,

holding tight to go round corners,

as the driver MADLY warns us

These country lanes are not a joke.!

Just relax and thank the Lord

You´ve got a bus pass.¨¨

As the roads become more narrow,

and the driver keeps his speed,

We look at one another full of fright.

Ïs this really country life?¨

Asked one old man to his wife?

Oh! Shut up and just be glad

You´ve got a bus pass.

Oh! Dear!

We´ve swapped our BMW

for a bus pass.

Are we mad, or simply aging?

Have we lost, or are we gaining?

Goodness only knows.....

Ah!.. the driver finally slows....

A speed camera is in sight,

Now the driver has the fright,

And we´re just smiling

since we´ve got a bus pass !

Did we really leave this place for leafy lanes and crazy bus drivers?
Did we really leave this place for leafy lanes and crazy bus drivers?

I have a picture of you and your hubby climbing on the bus and holding that pass. This is beautiful. Thank you for "taking me away".

O Micky.. Thanks so much! Beautiful is not how I would have described it, but you have given me something to think about. Like, who needs a BMW anyway when there are manic bus drivers at every bend??.

One day at a time. I´m getting there. Thanks for all your support. You can´t know how much it helps. take care. Dim x

You're definitely gaining! Lovely read, Dim. Talking of buses there is the story of the tourist bus in a popular tourist coutnry (can't say which one for fear of being told I'm prejudiced! LOL!) going down a steep and twisty mountain pass. The tour guide notices the passengers getting a bit nervous as the bus careens down and round the sharp turns and, hoping to calm them, says, in her best BBC voice, "Why don't you close your eyes when the bus goes around the bends? That's what the driver does!" LOL!

Love and peace

Tony

Hi Dim Flaxenwick! Wonderful poem of changing times and changing bodies. Uggh, how well I know. There's so much to enjoy but I'm too tired to do anything. Swopped your BMW for a bus pass? I swopped my Lexus for a truck. Better all around.

Well you will never have to worry as long as you carry your bus pass in greener pastures. Sit back and make yourself comfy and let your bus driver take care of the rest. Fun hub, enjoy your new location and of course your bus pass:0) cheers

Hello Sagglerider1..... Thanks a lot for youre input.Trust me ... Greener pastures are taking their toll on me. I´m so much more used to my little desert island where I could see the Atlantic Ocean every day.

Doing my best to keep my sense of humour and seeing the ´different´kind of beauty.

Thank you again for stopping by my page.

A bus pass - ah happy days, Dim. I used to have one when I lived in Scotland. In this part of Canada there are no bus passes - correction - there are no buses.

oh my dear John....... You sure have it worse than l do.. Canada sounds like such a beautifull country.

Yet every place has its drawbacks.

Are you housebound???
