A Detective’s Soliloquy

A Detective’s Soliloquy

As a homicide detective

he knew everything was wrong with his life,

any man could lie to their wife,

but he would sit at his desk,

yelling into a phone extension,

sensing the thick tension,

feeling the apprehension,

veins popping out of his red face,

explaining to her that he had to work late

on a murder case,

in his marriage, the trust fell,

and if she didn’t believe him,

she could go right to hell,

there was a curse word attack,

and then, after convincing her,

his blood pressure would stack,

he would then slam down the phone receiver,

and start an argument with the coat rack.

Frank, I honestly would love to have more time to browse all the great articles by you and other hubbers on here, it's just that S. and I are forced to resort to visiting the local library to obtain our internet writing time, so, as you can imagine, it's fairly short and sweet...

...But we enjoy it anyways, especially when we get the moments to read such wonderful pieces like this one. Keep it up, bro!

You do have a way with words. Do you have ebooks of your poetry, Frank? You are my all time favorite poet here. Maybe because my husband was cop for years in bad areas of a big city and I worried every time he walked out the door. Who knows? But I do enjoy your work.

I love it Frank! Detectives are one of my favorites (I love mysteries) and I can picture this guy (on TV/movie) as I read your verse. I voted it up, shared and pinned it.

I like catching some oldies but goodies, Frank. After all, I'm pretty new here still, I need to catch up. I have officially been signed up here for two years, but in all actuality, I've only been a part of this hubpage family since May 2015. :)
