Updated on September 16, 2013

Everything About FableHaven For FableHaven Fans

FableHaven is the type of series that you just can't put down. If you loved Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, this is your next addiction. You'll find yourself enthralled in a modern day fairy tale, full of fairies, unicorns, dragons and even dark creatures. The New York Times Bestselling series, by author Brandon Mull, will soon be made into a movie (follow all the Fablehaven movie news and casting rumors here). The children's (young adult) fantasy series consists of 5 books, "Fablehaven," "Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star," Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague," "Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary," and "Fablehaven: Keys to the Demon Prison." There is rumored to be a book 6; however information is scarce and there has been no mention yet of a Fablehaven book 6 title or release date. Fablehaven Book Series

Fablehaven - Book 1

The first book in the Fablehaven book series introduces readers to the young Kendra and her brother Seth. The two are sent to Connecticut to stay with their grandparents, the Sorensens, while their parents take a trip. During the stay, the children learn that their grandparents are caretakers of a secret wildlife sanctuary for 'mythical' creatures.

Fablehaven Book 2: Rise of the Evening Star

In the second book in the Fablehaven series, Kendra and Seth learn about the dangers of the Society of the Evening Star. The 'society' is a group intent on exploiting the enchanted preserves (including Fablehaven) to gain power.

Fablehaven Book 3: Grip of the Shadow Plague

In this 3rd book of the Fablehaven series, a dark plaque takes over the preserve changing beings into shadow creatures. Kendra meets the Knights of Dawn and must rescue an ancient artifact from a mysterious preserve, Lost Mesa.

Fablehaven Book 4: Secret of the Dragon Sanctuary

In the fourth book of the Fablehaven series the Society of the Evening Star is stronger than ever and insistent on finding and stealing talismans in the hope of opening the gates of Zzyxx. With the help of Patton's journal, Kendra discovers the location of the key to a vault where one of the sought-after talismans is hidden. To obtain it (and keep it out of the Society's hands) Kendra and the Knights of Dawn trek to Wyrmroost, a hidden dragon sanctuary.

Fablehaven Book 5: Keys to the Demon Prison

In the fifth book of the Fablehaven series, the Sphinx (who turns out to be the leader of the Society) seeks the last artifacts that are needed to open Zzyxx, the dreaded demon prison. If the demon prison is opened, demons will be unleashed into the world to cause havoc.

Creatures of Fablehaven

There are masses of mythological creatures in the Fablehaven series. Take a look at the images below to see artist renditions of dryads, centaurs, satyrs, fairies, unicorns and other creatures.

Fairies

Fairies are self-centered. They love to gaze at their reflections.

Graulus

Dryads - (And Hamadryads)

In Fablehaven (and on other preserves) tall Dryads make appearances. In Greek mythology, DRYADS are female spirits of nature or tree nymphs that watch over forests. HAMADRYADS are a type of dryad, but they are born bonded to a tree. If their tree dies, the hamadryad will also die.

Satyrs

Newel, Doren and Vern are satyrs and friends of Seth. These half-goat half-man creatures are eternally youthful, like rambunctious teens. Both Newel and Doren love watching TV. Vern is the neurotic romantic in love with Kendra.
