2nd Place just 1st Place Loser
Such a deceptively simple task: reciting letters and forming words. But somehow, with every letter that flowed smoothly, confidently from my lips, my father’s nervous attempts to transcribe turned my carefully formed words into shaky, barely legible scratches on the page. Then, the moment my tongue slipped and that incorrect letter found its way out, I felt the weight shift from my father’s shoulders to my own, and his ability to write miraculously return.
