Gil And The Mermaid

Gil And The Mermaid - By Pat Gillem

My buddy Gil went out fishing, on a chilly but sunny day,

when he accidentally hooked a mermaid, passing by that way.

'' Sorry ma'am, '' He said as he was trying to remove the hook,

she said '' I am not wearing anything, please don't take a look.''

'' Yes ma'am, '' He said truthfully, trying to advert his eyes,

his mother always taught him, never to tell any lies.

Then the weather turned colder, and Gil offered her his coat,

but she thought he was peeking, and slapped him right out of the boat.

While floundering around in the water,he thought, ' I've learned a lot today, '

now if he sees a mermaid, while out fishing, he goes the other way!

Paddyboy - I guess the lesson might be "Do your fishing only when the weather is warm."

Gus :-)))
