Is it worth starting a blog if you don't have a specialist subject?

I just wondered whether you can get consistent traffic to a blog that isn't about a particular topic (without having coerce friends and family!).

Thanks for this. Did it take a long time to get followers/traffic?

Not really. Depending on what you consider to be a long time and how much traffic you consider to be worthwhile. Most of this is personal ramblings and ranks for some unexpected terms.

There is a whole raft of "rules" about how to blog well.  I'd say ignore most of that, and just have fun with it.

I get a regular flow of traffic to my blog site, and the subject matter is quite diverse.

Just go with what you feel like writing and what interests you - if you are a good writer and have something to offer, readers will come.

The only thing I would advise is to add content regularly - I don't with my blogs and the traffic just dries up.  Consistency is good!

    Good luck and enjoy!
