Driss Chraibi was born in July 15, 1926 he is a French-language Moroccan author whose novels deal with colonialism and are often partly autobiographical.
Born and raised in El Jadida, Casablanca,Driss Chraibi came to Paris in 1946 to study chemistry and neuropsychiatry, before turning to literature and journalism.
His first novel, "Past Simple", was published in 1954 and created a major controversy in Morocco. His writings were made of a novelist Chraïbi recognized around the world.
He has received numerous literary awards including the Mediterranean Africa for lifetime achievement in 1973, the price of Franco-Arab in 1981, the price for translation Mondello Born at the Dawn of Italy .
