    I. Kindergarten

Hasty movement through a candle lit house
    His parents commence a joust
    Parental violence escalades
    A mother's echo fades
A husband strikes his spouses face
A young boy cries in disgrace
Furious rage flings the boy into a cabinet
    Climaxing the wrath and magnet

    II. Elementary

The world was split some time ago
    Parental guidance struck with blows
The father strikes his son down
The child dare not weep a sound
    Violent acts amplify each day
So the boy could be a man someday

    III. Middle School

    Mother strikes his dad's reflection
    The boy cringes in acceptation
Cries let forth from destruction once done
A best friend's house a boy must run
Puppy love from one so dark
From the duo a new life will spark.

    IV. High School

A child now has his own son
His dad's visions die out, their done
He lost his faith in God that day
And establish with his son a new way
Drugs and violence consumed his father
But the teenagers new love would inspire

    V. College

Teaching his son from right and wrong
Brings dreary reminiscences of a lullaby song
Once his dad and friend, now foe
With nothing left, no love to show

    VI. Life

He is a father not a dad
His son respects him as a comrade
We are but two different attractions
Built with different views and satisfactions
The man's dad will be missed for the love he lost
But a father should love his son at any cost

To my son I will always love and respect you. Followell 2007
