Fire

I have a paper heart

And   you’re  the  boy  who plays with matches

Your danger, something new

I’m a fool to go with you

Your smile hits me quick

And just like that I know I’m in

Streets fly by, I hardly see

I’m too caught up in you and me

To even notice what’s happening

I’m burning with you

I’m dangerous, something new

Now I’m a fool along with you

My smile hits them quick

Just like that I know we’re in

Darkness.

The ashes of myself are now surrounded by pictures of someone else

Who is this girl who looks like me?

She is smiling sweet, just as I used to be

I cross a room and there I see two people sleeping peacefully

I know I shouldn’t do this, I know it’s not me.

But then I think of you smiling back at me.

Think of how disappointed you would be if I left this house with no money.

Out there window I go through.

I race off in the night with you

Not knowing what will transpire

Because I’m the girl who plays with fire.

Cool -- er, hot, I mean. Whatever, I like this. Good rhyming and a mischievously fun storyline. Sounds like so many other girls... they just would rather play with fire than go with the nice guys. Cheers.

Thanks for reading Doug; I really appreciate all your feedback. And your right I don’t know what is about most girls, but they really do love bad boys (well most of them…)! Take Care :)

Perhaps they see in bad boys, a reprieve from too much good. Salt seasons, as does, both good and bad. The secret is, how much salt is bad for you. The poem lets us decide. Well done!
