I Want To Go Home.Homesickness Hurts

Longing for home

''l'll take you home again, Kathleen'' or so the old song goes,

A Ballad or a Folk Song, No one really knows.

And though this song is beautiful, its content really hits me,

''Take me home, l'm not Kathleen,

But please can you take me home?''

The Ballad or the Folk Song goes on so lovingly,

''l'll take you home, l promise, my sad, homesick Kathleen.

l'll take you home again , Kathleen, and happy you will be,

picking flowers for our cottage, taking walks down to the sea.

''Oh', Please, Sir, l am not Kathleen but can you take me home as well,?

l'll be no trouble, do as l'm told, just take me from this living Hell'.

''l'm still a biscuit, square, you see among all those that are round'

Does that mean you can take me home? l'll be good, not make a sound''.

''Oh! Take me home, l'm not Kathleen, but please can you take me home?''

I'II TAKE YOU HOME AGAIN, KATHLEEN
TO WHERE YOUR HEART WILL FEEL NO PAIN
AND WHEN THE FIELDS ARE FRESH AND GREEN
I'II TAKE YOU TO YOUR HOME AGAIN......(from old Irish ballad by Barry Taylor)

Oh! l feel just as Kathleen did, my heart is breaking here,

My heart too would feel no pain ,if you can take me home again.

Oh! Take me home, l'm not Kathleen, but please can you take me home?

Where l can smell the sea again, feel the salt rise in the air,

feel the sand beneath my toes, watch and listen to ebbs and flows,

Oh!, please can you take me home?

l understand so little here, the people, l find strange,

Their ways are not our island ways,

l don't fit in, l cannot change.!!!!!!

''Who says you cannot change,?'' a voice came from behind,

''You can adapt, you have before. l've seen you through tough times.

You say you are a square, all other biscuits round.......

A biscuit tin needs both, you know, please turn your mind around.!'

''Oh! Take me home, l can't adapt, l feel too old to change,

How can l now at the age l am, put my head into ''rearrange?''

''Because you're strong, have been for years,'', the voice behind me speaks,

It's confidence you lack, my dear, it's self worth that you must seek.

''Oh Take me home, l'm not Kathleen, but please won't you take me home?''

''You're not listening, girl, hear my words, your skills are needed here.

There are people here who need you and this may be temporary.....

Imagine that!  The good you'll do, as you have always done,

In a different place, that's all until your time will come.''

You give me hope oh!  little voice, if only l can know,

That after helping others it's to my home l'll go,..........

"Oh! Take me home, I'm not Kathleen, but please can you take me home?" My bags are acked dear Dim. This is not my home. There's too much hunger, need. I want that sea air. I want a vision from a hill, a mountain. I want to go home. I can't rearrange. God bless you Dim!
