The Lesson

deep dark brown eyes

of one who does not demonstrate the intelligence of a supreme being

yet has the understanding and intelligence of the deeper meaning of life

who was to know?

always there

taken for granted

your pain

how foolish was i to think and dismiss your feelings

never understanding your depth of love

your unconditional acceptance of my ugliness

my careless demonstration and neglect

how unkind

i was supposed to know better

i was supposed to be intelligent

and knowledgeable

yet i

better than you

was less of a person

with all my knowledge and understanding i was the lesser being.

i ask for your forgiveness of my ignorance of life

my arrogance has brought me to my knees......

jujubees, upon reading this beautiful lament again, I believe you are speaking for mankind....for humankind..when..when we finally realize the many many levels of our cruelties, neglect, mis"use" and dismissal of our sentient fellows on this earth. Your words apply across the spectrum of our behaviors, on all levels, towards animals; sentient beings. Again, thank you.

A remorse when expressed with all sincerity is always a good act. Lovely way of asking for forgiveness. Great piece
