One love your whole life through, Is it possible?

Thinking back 2 years when I first began writing on hubpages, I remember writing a hub called ´´My husband is the love of my life´´. In that hub I mentioned a poem I´d written when I was only 18, and promised not to bore you with more than one sentence.

However, as I´m getting older I feel I want to publish poems written in my teens having seen how life has turned out for me, I have added a few verses onto the original.

................................................................................................

I Surely Cannot Have Found My One True Love Already!!

.................................................................................................

If I can sit and grow old with you,

ignoring the human rat race,

and we can still love in a gentle way,

not at this passionate pace.

Then I have found the love of my life.!

If we can sit and grow old together

finishing eachothers´sentences,

and laugh at ourselves as we've morphed into one,

and have our bad days, yet still see the sun,

Then I have found the love of my life.

Well here we are, growing old together,

some days are harder than others,

but our love has not changed, just deepened and grown,

with all its confusions, and troubles and strifes,

Yes I did find the love of my life.

If I can now look at pictures of us

with youth on our side, no worries, no fuss,

and remember the good, and laugh at our hair,

remember old friends, how it was, way back there,

Then I have found the love of my life.

Yes , though young I did find the love of my life.

Ah Dim this is wonderful to retrieve and relive as you pen here the Love of Your Life. Let it flow, show us your glow as radiant as you were in your youth, you are just as beautiful still.

I would love to see you place your early poems here for us all to read and enjoy, it's exciting to read what we penned from our youth isn't it?

Congratulations to both of you for remaining true to each other and being the true love in both of your lives. Peace and blessings to you both.

Hi Ken, Thank you for stopping by. I don´t think we deserve congratulations, more like we feel blessed that we managed to keep it together through the horrendous times. (trust me there have been some ´corkers´..)

As for seeing my early poems. Ha ha. I´ll see what I can do. Hugs to you.

Aww, this brought tears to my eyes. So great you have it still and so wonderful you have the poems of your youth to document you had it then as well! I am linking to this from my latest Hub about love. This is so great on so many levels! Congratulations! I love it!

WOW!! Thank you so much, Scribenet. You have paid me a great compliment. I am so happy that you love it.

I don´t think I have come across your writings on hubpages, so I shall put that right immediately by going over to your page.

Thanks again.

i hateeee you dim. just as i was trying to mentally compose a hub on this topic there you go.

but i love you Dim for saying something that needs to be said among the cacophony of voices shouting"monogamy is unnatural" (but then so is cooking your food before eating,or wearing clothes when the weather permits it).yes, there are rough patches and the commitment does at times waver in the face of temptation but the pleasure that i get when my wife of 32 years puts her arm around me when half asleep, is worth a million affairs and a zillion of the prettiest women in the world making love to me.

keep at it Dim. up up monogamy.

Dear Angela Blair, Thank you for such praise and I am pleased you are going to ´follow´.

I think my man and I are merely very tolerent of eachothers shortcomings. This has helped us through many rough times.

This is just lovely, and so full of love - You've captured perfectly what it is to have found that wonderful partner in life. (And the photo of your husband and daughter is beautiful!) Oh! Joy ...... So good to see you.

I think I may be a bit older than you. Since we moved back to Britain after 20 years in Tenerife, I feel older than everyone. The weather up here in Cumbria should be banned.!!!! Thank Heaven for hubpages. Glad you liked this hub. Hope we can see a bit more of eachother like we used to.

With love and peace,

Dim x
