Poetry: Illusion

Source

I was angry teenager. And I spewed my anger on the pages of my daily journal. But I was not always angry I also blazed with love. Sometimes I was in equanimity. My journal entries are the foundations of my many stories and poems. Unfortunately I burned by diary years ago when I was apprehended by anger.

This is one of my earliest epigrams, but it has gone under uncountable modifications that I do not remember what were the original lines. All I remember is I had worked on the idea about Maya, the Hindu word for illusion. Or perhaps she was called Maya. I do not remember, it happened long-long time ago.

I toss. I turn

And I sag

With the clout you have over me,

Perforation getting bigger

Why I live, when living is feeble

In this world glutted with people!

Cavernous past. Hollow future

And murky present engulfs my being

Cut off, I'm

Unconscious, I cry

Source

Setting sun and the dark night

Kindle melancholia and dejection

I toss. I turn

All through the nights

demented am I?

It's your love, I know

Plunged into the depth

Drowning,

Beating hands restlessly towards the shore.

You are there faceless

I spot your silhouette

I’m seething here

An abyss between us

The crescent moon,

Night glittering with stars and fireflies,

Your reality outgrowing

Suddenly,

Eddy erupts

In the veins of my life

And I remember

You were named Maya

Mother of all illusions

You keep all the beings

Apprehended in the world of delusion

You are gone

You do not exist

Neither do I

A great poem, so full of emotion. We are an illusion, each and every one of us and we create our own illusions in life. I love your pictures too, simply stunning. Awesome work Vinaya.

Everything that we see is Maya, an illusion. Something we only escape from, when we leave.

Beautifully expressed.

So much tension in this poem...brought out beautifully with few words. I enjoyed reading it. Incidentally, I also used to write a journal of different kinds of poetry - then one day when I was really angry and frustrated, I tore out the pages and burned them. So I totally understand how you feel. :)

..smart move my friend with linking your fellow fans and hubbers here - that is truly the hubspirit - and it's all because you write so purely and freely - must say I love those pictures too - if the Hub had a hall of fame I'd induct you into it - right now - you've got the stuff that poetic dreams are made of - because it comes from your divine and noble heart.

My dear friend. This is beautiful, caring, and oh so sad. In fact for me this is my favourite write from your pen. You had me twisted around your prose with so many emotions that I still am reeling from the effect. I am sharing this with my facebook buddies, and voted up AB x

@Radha, who knows better than you about Maya. No other than Krishna has explained it better.

@marcoujor, grand scheme... wow that's a nice idea. Perhaps another poem.

@ Dear Debby, of course pain is real for us but when we begin to understand transient life we can outlive pain.

Thank you all for stopping by and writing great comments.

Debby Bruck profile image

Dear Vinaya does it rhyme with Maya ~ What appears as illusion may or may not be so, for it is real when we live through the painful experiences. May there be peace. Debby

Vinaya,

Contemplative and insightful-- I shed my anger many years ago as well, I am sure we are better off in the grand scheme. Voted UP & AB, mar.

Great photos and a great description of how you felt. It helped you be how you are today. Is that maya or illusion? Time will tell.

Maya yes. Is it all just an illusion? The pain is so real, the anger too. Tormented by a missing person, so frustrating. Things can only get better after this I hope. Another fine piece of writing Vinaya, gorgeous photos too. regards, snakeslane
