Lost Adrift a Sea

Have you ever had a time in your life where it felt like everything was going wrong? Perhaps you felt so defeated you felt like giving up? This poem is for those times with an uplifting end. Please enjoy!

Lost

Lost adrift a sea of uncertainty,

my boat has lost its way.

It set off course on the way to Utopia,

misfortune led it astray.

Everything seemed so perfect,

how could it all feel so wrong?

The anguish is more than I can bear,

despite my inadequacies, I must remain strong.

Here I sit, alone and afraid,

grasping onto the hopes of a new day.

The angry seas have swallowed me up,

shall I succumb to this torture and be washed away?

My spirit wants to fight for what’s right,

but my energies are depleting.

These treacherous seas have scarred me,

mere reminders of my souls’ beating.

I find myself wondering,

how I came to be in this place.

My soul has been tarnished,

is there any saving grace?

When at last, surrender is imminent,

I find the seas easing up her grasp on me.

Has she allowed me to survive?

I fumble for the oars and try to flee.

Yet, I pause, I must face my demons

and look them in the eye.

She splashes her salty mist over me

Struggling to breathe, I begin to cry.

Could I have survived nature’s wrath;

found a way to exist amidst adversity.

Perhaps my journey had its merit,

leading me to the sea of tranquility.

Whatever its purpose,

I find my ship edging closer to the shore.

Although the journey’s far from over,

I shall go on evermore.

Glancing about,

I’ve come to look at this place in a new light.

Troubles mount and recede, just as the tides,

gathering up strength for the next plight.

Very inspirational Poem.

Some one once told "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up"

What I liked the most in the poem is

"Whatever its purpose,

I find my ship edging closer to the shore"

This is another interesting thing in life. Power of doing nothing. This is what Warren Buffet usually advise others on investing.

Thank you emdi. I wrote this poem when life was feeling hectic. It was powerful how this poem was written, the words were just kind of there in my mind, flowing out. After I wrote it I was astounded how it all came together.
