Most of the recipes included are made with simple ingredient list that you can find in your local grocery store, but most importantly they are affordable and nutritious.
Ani's Raw Food Kitchen - Raw Food Recipe Book
Ani's Raw Food Kitchen is probably my favorite Raw Food Recipe Book because of the simplicity and affordability of her recipes. This is my go to book for regular weekly meals like the Cabbage Kale Slaw in Simple Greek Dressing and the Save the Tuna Rolls. All of the recipes in this book are simple with an average of 5 to 10 ingredients per recipe, and many of them repeat the same base of ingredients, so if you stock your pantry with the raw food basics you will almost always have on hand what you need to make a delicious recipe. This Raw Food Recipe book is great for beginners as well; with a great introduction that explains stocking your raw food pantry as well as suggestions for kitchen gadgets you may want or need. I really like this book because most of the meals travel well also, so it is great if you bring lunch to work or eat dinner on the run. Ani's Raw Food Kitchen has a nice balance of Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks and Desserts, so if you can only afford one book today, this is the one I would recommend.
Ani's Raw Food Essentials - Classic Cooked Food Recipes Converted to Raw Food Recipes
Ani's Raw Food Essentials is the sequel to Ani's Raw Food Kitchen, with the same great easy reading style and affordable realistic recipes. With over 250 recipes Ani's Raw Food Essentials is more of a Raw Food Bible than just a recipe book. Ani covers all the basics for beginner Raw Foodies, but she also has something for everyone from classic comfort foods like Bacon and Pizza and Ravioli to Innovative and Gourmet Dishes like Risotto and Korean Dumplings. Her Desserts are so amazing that you wont believe they are guilt free, especially the Basic Flourless Cake which she gives you several recipes to play with different flavors. The Great thing about this book is how many traditional cooked food recipes that Ani has adapted for Raw Foodies, like Nachos, Tacos, Pad Thai, Pancakes and Ice Cream. I also love that she has a huge section on Wraps, Sandwiches and Burgers which are great for on the go.
Raw Energy: 124 Raw Food Recipes - Raw Food Snack Recipes
The Raw Energy Recipe Book is a Powerhouse of healthy snacks, juices and smoothies. If you are always on the run, or are looking for snacks for pre and post workout, or snack bars for the kids lunch boxes then this handy little book is for you. This little book covers a lot of ground, starting with the basics and setting up your kitchen for Raw Food Uncooking. The Raw Energy Recipe Book then moves on to Fruit and Vegetable Juices, Delicious Nut and Seed Blends, Vegetable Snacks, Delightful Raw Desserts, Raw Shakes and Smoothies, Energy Bars, Cold Fruit and Vegetable Soups and Raw Cereals. The thing that I like best about this book is that with each recipe there is a small blurb from the author explaining about the recipe, whether it travels well, if its good for post work out or a good coffee alternative, etc. Also with many of the recipes there is a small section that says "A good source of:..." and list the vitamins and minerals, protein, enzymes, etc that are in that particular recipe. Most of the recipes are simple and range from as little as two ingredients to four to five for most recipes. The only downside to this book is that many of the recipes call for honey or bee pollen, which is not a Vegan Product, so if you are a strict Vegan then this recipe book may not be for you, although, you could substitute Agave or brown rice syrup in many of the recipes.
Ani's Raw Food Asia Raw Food Recipe Book - Unique Raw Food Recipes
If you are already comfortable with the basic of raw cuisine and you are looking to add a little pizazz to your recipe arsenal, then you will love Ani's Raw Food Asia Recipe Book. This book is in the same easy to read style of Ani's previous books, but all of the recipes have an Asian flair. There are recipes inspired by dishes from Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, China, Hawaii, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines. She has delicious drinks, like cinnamon, fig and ginger sun tea and Mango Lassi, salad recipes like seaweed and daikon salad or Pineapple, Red Cabbage and Corn Salad. She also has recipes for pickled vegetables, kimchis, namuls, curries, noodles, rice, desserts and so much more. Some of the recipes call for a trip to the Asian market, but many can be made if your local grocery has a good produce and spice section. These recipes are slightly more involved then Ani's two other cookbooks but they are definitely worth the effort.
The Complete Book of Raw Food - Raw Food Basics to Raw Food Gourmet in One Book
The Complete Book of Raw Food is a great starter Recipe Book for Raw Food Beginners, while also offering new recipes for more experienced Raw Foodies. It offers a nice mix of basic salads, soups and meals that mimic classic cooked food recipes as well as innovative recipes to broaden your Raw Food Horizons. The Beginning of the book covers a lot of Raw Kitchen Basics, such as sprouting, Juicing, Stocking the Pantry and tips and Techniques from the pros. The unique thing about The Complete Book of Raw Food, is that rather than being a recipe book by just one author, it is a compilation of Recipes from Raw Food Chefs all over the world. That fact means that you get a wonderful variety of flavors and cuisines in one book. The recipes also range nicely in difficultly and number of ingredients, so if you are on a budget, there are simple recipes with five items or less, but if you like to experiment there are also recipes that call for more complex ingredient lists and techniques.
