Ask DJ Lyons: Home Office Renovations Day 7
My home office is being re-done
My home office in our log cabin is being completely re-done. On day 7 of the renovations, Tommy and Dal showed up. The day is Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Tommy was carrying a box that is holding the extender for my air conditioning unit. It will extend the air conditioning ventilation system to the far right wall. On this day, they laid down the heavy plastic to help alleviate moisture from the outside being soaked up into the room. They also rewired the room and put electrical outlets on both sides of the room.
Those outlets will be much appreciated. The outlets on the left side of the room are now in a more convenient location. The former outlets in the right side of the room were part of the built-in bed. You had to get a in a real strange position to even reach them. Now, the outlet is on the side of the wall. I am so very happy about this.
While I was off running errands, there was a little communication error. Tommy requested that my husband turn off the electricity in that room for a few minutes. My husband thought he was simply talking about him turning off his computer for a few minutes. My husband is a very talented sports writer for the Tennessee Vols. He was so caught up in his work that he simply did not hear right. Therefore, when Tommy went to put two wires together, he ended up getting an electrical charge. Thankfully, he was okay and even had a sense of humor about it. Phew!
As I was leaving the house, Tommy had set up a saw horse in the carport and was cutting up something. I did not see what it was nor did I see any new wood added to the room. Perhaps this was something that got buried underground or that was hidden from view somehow.
I am so very excited about this project. I can clearly visualize myself sitting in the finished office. My husband and I are hoping that we will not continue to look like that "Hoarders" show in the rest of the house for too much longer.
Below, you will see the latest photos of what happened today.

Electricians, maintenance, service, safety personnel can quickly test for energized circuits and defective grounds on the factory floor, in the shop. Continually tests its battery and its circuit integrity with a periodic double flash visual indication using Fluke Voltbeat technology. It comes with a two-year warranty. It detects line voltage from 90VAC - 600VAC (1AC-AI-II).
The Fluke T5 Electrical Testers let you check-Voltage, continuity and current with one compact tool. With the T5, all you have to do is select-Volt, ohms or current and the tester does the rest. Open Jaw current lets you check current up to 100A - without breaking the circuit. Its tough test leads stow neatly in the back of the tester, making it easy to tote the T5 in your tool pouch.
