Bath Fitter Review

I just moved into an apartment with my boyfriend, but before moving here, I lived at home with my mom. We had some terrible problems with black mold spreading in our bathtub/shower combo, which I will discuss black mold at a later time. Our black mold infestation led us to take action.

We knew that black mold spreads easily; and it spreads everywhere. It's very likely that if you have black mold in your shower, it has spread behind the walls where you can't see it. The black mold that had taken over our bathtub caused us to start looking at replacing our shower walls. After our extensive search, we ended up picking to do our business with Bath Fitter.

Why We Picked Bath Fitter

Bath Fitter does a free in-home estimate. When the gentleman came to our home and did our estimate, my mom and I found it to be more affordable than the other places that we looked at.

They have a wide variety and were very helpful. After the gentleman told us what our estimate was, he went over the vast selection of bathtubs, walls/liners, soap dishes, shelves, faucets, etc. We picked out our new wall/liner and the new faucet that would be coming with it. We also chose some built-in shelves.

Then he explained their warranty. My mom really liked the fact that we have a transferable warranty with Bath Fitter. Basically, as long as someone in the family (my mom, my brother, or myself) owns the home, we can benefit from the warranty. What this means is that someone will come out and fix our bath and shower for free if anything breaks or needs repaired.

We were able to get set up with a payment plan. We were unable to pay the entire amount at once, so we were able to discuss different types of payment options until we came up with the most suitable.

Before he left, we scheduled a date and time for a worker to install our shower liner. We had to schedule for a day that was several weeks away, but that was because they didn't have any other times available. I suppose that's a good thing though (them being so popular).

How Did Things Go The Day Bath Fitter Installed Our New Shower Walls?

When we scheduled our appointment for a worker to install our shower liner, we were told to have all of our things out of the bathroom ahead of time. We were of course, able to have the bathroom vacant by the scheduled appointment date.

When the day came for our appointment, the man that ended up installing our new shower liner was at our home by the scheduled time. I don't know about you, but I like it when people who are scheduled to do work at my house are on time. I definitely don't like waiting all day and that's not what I had to do.

He knew about black mold, so he wore a mask while dealing with it. He warned us not to come in the bathroom while he was getting rid of it unless we also wore a mask.

Everything was finished in a timely manner. He was done and gone within just a few hours.

As expected, the entire shower and tub area was nice and clean when he left. He also cleaned up any other mess that was made in our bathroom.

Before leaving, the man showed us his work, asked us for our opinions, and then explained to us why we couldn't use the shower for 3 days (which by the way, we had already been warned of that when we scheduled the appointment).

Review Of Bath Fitter

It has been about a year since Bath Fitter came out to install our new shower walls.

We haven't had any problems with our black mold returning. We believe that this is because the person that installed it made sure to get all of the black mold out of our home.

Everything still looks just as brand new as the day they put it in and the shower is very easy to clean.

One year after having a shower redone by Batfitters, we have spots of black mold growing in the silicon joint, at the junction between the bottom of the walls ans the shower base. GE makes a 10 year warranty silicon caulk/ joint, but their customer service said that this product does not adheres well to acrylic. What joint made for acrylic and mold free warranty do I need to use ?
