The Best Yankee Candle Scents
What Are the Best Yankee Candle Scents?
Yankee Candles offers over 70 fragrances that can fill a home with warm, inviting scents. There are so many different fragrance possibilities that it can be hard to choose which ones to try first. I like to match the fragrances I choose to the season of the year, to special occasions in my life, or to everyday aromas that I find comforting. I have my personal favorites that I think are the best scents and yes, my name is Kate and I am a candle-a-holic!
Four Personal Favorite Yankee Candle Scents
Among the great variety of Yankee Candle scents, my favorites are the ones that I think make my home warm and inviting. They also tend to remind me of things I find comforting in my own life.
One favorite is Clean Cotton. I use this fresh, clean scent in every room of my house to make the whole house smell like I just spent hours cleaning and washing the linens (not!). Something about the crispness of the scent makes me feel calm.
French Vanilla is a traditional smell, one that everyone who visits tends to recognize and enjoy.
It always reminds me of frosting and cookies, all good things to me!
The Oatmeal Cookie scent smells just like freshly baked cookies.
It reminds me of oatmeal cookies in my mother's kitchen, years ago.
This warm aroma touches my heart and fills me with pleasant memories.
Another scrumptious scent is called Good Morning, a popular candle that smells like warm, freshly baked muffins with a hint of spicy cardamom. While it’s perfect for helping your family greet the morning, this candle will continue lifting spirits all day long.
Yankee Candle Scents for Special Occasions
Even though I buy my favorite scents all year long, I also buy some just for special occasions for myself and others to enjoy.
I burn Spiced Pumpkin in October and for Halloween. The pumpkin scent helps create the perfect mood for pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, and cool fall nights.
During November, I use Autumn Wreath. The spicy fall scent is perfect when guests arrive to celebrate Thanksgiving and puts everybody in the mood to enjoy autumn.
Sometimes I host wedding showers at my home—and I once even hosted a small wedding! For these occasions, I burn Blue Satin Sashes. Not only do I love this candle's name, but I also adore the lavender, rosemary and citrus scents with just a hint of jasmine.
Soft Blanket makes a great baby shower gift. It’s a subtle take on the clean-baby scent with notes of amber, citrus and vanilla.
If possible, I take Yankee Candles with me on vacation every year. I really enjoy Bahama Breeze when I travel, because the aroma makes me want to sit back, relax, and enjoy a mixed drink; it smells of pineapple, grapefruit, and mango. The tropical blend makes me feel like I am away visiting the tropics no matter where my actual budget allows me to go.
For summer, I like Let Freedom Ring. Held in a festive jar decorated for Independence Day, the candle boasts a smell of cedar, redwood and a little vanilla. I burn it to give the house the perfect summer smell for my Fourth of July celebration, and leave it burning so guests can enjoy the smell after watching the fireworks.
Another candle I like for special occasions is Chocolate Truffle. Its rich chocolate smell is drool-inducing and I can’t help but crave chocolate almost as soon as I put it on. My favorite occasion for this scent is when I host girls’ night at my house, but it’s also perfect for moments at home by myself, when I can indulge myself with the intoxicating chocolate aromas.
Yankee Candles For Christmas
Favorite Yankee Candle Christmas Scents
Some of the best Yankee Candle scents are associated with Christmas and the holiday season. I buy these for myself and as Christmas gifts; everyone seems to enjoy receiving them. I give them to my children's teachers, to my aunts, and as Secret Santa gifts at church and at my job.
This vanilla cupcake scent is reminiscent of sweet icing and always puts me in the mood to do my holiday baking. But it still makes my kitchen smell incredible even when I haven’t baked a thing.
When I have guests over for Christmas parties and gift-giving, I like to burn Hot Buttered Rum. With its rich, buttery smell, this candle seems to fill the entire room with notes of rum and vanilla. Yum!
Hollyberry is another holiday favorite, blending the smell of red, yellow, and blackberries with a bit of clove. This is the best Yankee Candle scent to burn when decorating your Christmas tree and putting out other holiday decorations. It puts everyone in a festive and happy holiday mood.
The Christmas scent I give most often as a gift is Holiday Garland, which has the fruity smell of cranberries and and a deep pine scent. I hope other people use my gift to scent their homes with the smell of Christmas, and think of me often when they burn their candle.
Two Yankee Candles that I think every home needs at Christmas are Christmas Tree and Sparkling Pine. Either of these scents can make a home smell just like Christmas. Sparkling Pine has a natural, fresh smell that reminds me of winter walks through the woods with snow crunching underfoot. Christmas Tree smells of fresh pine and eucalyptus. Sometimes I use this candle to make my house smell like I have a real Christmas tree when I’ve actually put out a fake one.
"Sound of Music" Scent Collection
This year I came across The Sound of Music candle collection. The names come from the song "My Favorite Things" from that classic movie our family watches during the holidays:
Raindrops on roses and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things...
I talk about Blue Satin Sashes, one of my favorites, above, but I also enjoy Bright Copper Kettles—cinnamon bark, clove buds, allspice and nutmeg—and Warm Woolen Mittens—a cozy scent with notes of lemon, apple, lily and musk. These three fragrances really evoke the holidays for me. Raindrops on Roses, Crisp Apple Strudel, and Moon On Their Wings are also part of the collection.
New Scent Collections
I like to try new scents and am always wondering what will be available next. Some new scents I haven't tried yet are Christmas Rose and Deck The Halls. I can't wait to give them a try when I have guests over.
Yankee Candles just introduced a group of new scents and I already have a favorite: True Rose. The scent is so rich and velvety, if I closed my eyes I would seriously think I was holding a rose and not a candle.
Some other new scents I find wonderful are Beach Flowers, Pink Blush, Beach Wood, Coastal Waters, Meadow Showers and White Gardenia. Meadow Showers smells like grass just after a summer rain. One new scent I am not fond of is Meyer Lemon, which smells like a citronella candle. But check out the new offerings and see for yourself!
New: The Man Candle Collection
Just in: the Man Candle Collection. Why should men be neglected? There are some great scents in this collection.
Riding Mower smells like a summer day with the hot sun, cool breeze, and the summery scent of freshly cut grass. I love this one! 2x4 is reminiscent of wood and sawdust, very manly! First Down is a combination of orange, patchouli, vetiver and leather and is an invigorating scent, perfect for Monday night football! And lastly there is Man Town which is a blend of spices, woods and musk. Smells like a great aftershave or cologne, mmm! This is a limited edition so get them while they are available!
More Fun With Yankee Candles
One final great thing about Yankee Candle scents is that you can purchase many beautiful accessories to go with them. These accessories, like jar shades and jar toppers, can turn basic candles into beautiful displays for any room in my house. I use the displays in my bathroom, kitchen, and living room.
And if you get the chance, be sure to see the Yankee Candle Flagship Store in western Massachusetts, which is supposed to be a fun place to visit!
