Bunn NHB Coffee Brewer

Sporting a curvier look, the Bunn NHB provides style without compromising the quality that is synonymous with the Bunn name. The NHB retains the classic stainless steel tank housing found on the B10 and BT10, but has been slightly redesigned with a rounder look and a smaller footprint than these other Bunn models. However, the look of the NHB is the only change that has been made; this 10-cup drip coffee maker features the same pour over system as the rest of the Bunn line. The stainless steel water tank reservoir keeps water heated to brew temperature at all times, so in addition to brewing a full pot of coffee in 3 minutes, you also have easy access to hot water for tea or hot chocolate. It is available in black with silver accents.

With only two switches and a 3-minute brew time, the hardest part is getting the NHB ready for its first use. Although the set-up process does take about 20 minutes, the majority of this time is spent waiting for the water that you've poured into the machine to heat up. After this initial heat up time, the Bunn NHB will brew a full 10-cup pot of coffee in 3 minutes because of its unique pour over system. This brewing method functions on the principle of displacement: pouring water into the machine forces the same amount of heated water, which is already in the water tank, out through the filter basket. This allows you to brew anywhere between 4 and 10 cups of coffee at a time by simply pouring less water into the NHB. Brewing starts by sliding the reservoir lid to the closed position, rather than flipping down the lid as you would with the other Bunn coffee brewers. Almost immediately after shutting the reservoir lid, brewed coffee is dispensed, so you should place the carafe on the hot plate before closing this lid.

To keep water hot consistently, this coffee maker does require electrical power all of the time. However, if you will be away from the machine for an extended period of time, you can turn off the NHB using the vacation switch on the lower right side of the machine. When you return, the coffee maker will require another 15 minutes to reheat the water in the stainless steel tank. In addition to the vacation switch, the only other button on the Bunn NHB is a hot plate on/off switch located on the front of the machine. Before leaving the machine unattended, you will need to remember to turn the hot plate off because there are no auto shut-off options. You must also keep in mind that the hot plate on/off button only controls the hot plate and will not commence the brewing process.
