Buy A Turkey Fryer

This year for your Holiday meals why not try fried turkey instead of the more traditional baked or smoked. Not only is fried turkey delicious, it's also a faster way to cook your turkey.

Fried turkey has been a southern favorite for quite some time now, but in the last few years its also caught on in other parts of the country.

A turkey fryer consists of a large stock pot along with some type of burner. Traditionally it's a propane burner along with a basket for the bird and lifter and a thermometer. Just recently a safer version which is the electric turkey fryer has been introduced to the public.  The electric turkey fryer can also be used indoors and can be used to prepared other types of foods besides just turkey.

Buy An Electric Turkey Fryer

If you're hesitant about using a turkey fryer because of safety issues you might want to try an electric turkey fryer.

Masterbuilt 20010109 Butterball Turkey Fryer

For an easier cleaner and safer option try the masterbuilt butterball turkey fryer. Fryer cooks up to a 14 pound turkey with 1/3 less oil than traditional turkey fryers. And even more important its easy enough for a beginner to use.

Masterbuilt Oil Free Electric Turkey Fryer

This turkey fryer which is for outdoor use only cooks your turkey using radiant heat instead of oil.  To me this product is more of a roaster than a fryer because it doesn't use oil and the resulting turkey won't be crispy like the turkey that's been fried, but if you're looking for a good way to cook your turkey without the mess and oil you'll probably like this product. The oil free turkey fryer also comes with a wood chop tray for smoking your turkey.

Turkey Fryer Tips

Because of safety factors its always important to read all the instructions before using your turkey fryer for the first time.

Heating oil over propane can be hazardous and all precautions should be taken to ensure your safety and that of those around you when using a turkey fryer.

Also make sure that your turkey is fresh or thawed without any ice crystals left on the bird. Otherwise if ice comes in contact with boiling oil it will cause the oil to boil over which could result in severe burns and possibly a fire.

Be sure to wear protective clothing such as long sleeves and heavy gloves when using your turkey fryer. Also make sure to never leave the turkey fryer unattended and keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Use a thermometer to help keep the oil temperature at 350 degrees and keep a fire extinguisher that has been rated for flammable liquids near by just in case.

I didn't know there was such a thing as an electric turkey fryer. Great tips - especially the one about making sure the turkey is fully thawed and ice crystal free.
