Buy a Curtain Rod Online

Curtain rods

If you have windows that need decorating then you have the option of using a curtain rod pole, traditional curtain tracks or modern curtain tracks to hang to your curtains. The curtain pole has become more and more popular over the last 10 years and now is now the most used hanging system when it comes to covering your windows. Curtain rods can be found in lots of different lengths, thicknesses and sizes but there are more window sizes than there are pole sizes. The reason for this is because there is no such thing as a standard sized window! Therefore most people who buy a curtain rod or pole will usually end up cutting it down to match the size of the their window. Therefore it is important to get a bigger size rather than a smaller size.

Fixing your Pole

All poles have different fixtures and fittings. Screws are not normally included because we do not know which type of wall you will be drilling in to. You must obtain different screws for different types of walls. Curtain rods come with brackets that need to be attached to the wall - the poles then sit on top of these poles. If you are covering an area bigger than 2 metres in width it is recommended that you use a bracket in the middle as well as each end. This will provide extra stability for the pole. This is not absolutely necessary and solely depends on the weight of the curtains that you will be hanging from your pole. Some people fix their curtain rod above the window and go slightly larger than the window width, whilst others fix their poles inside a window - this just simply comes down to personal choice. Curtains run through the pole and hang beneath.

Curtain Rings

Curtain rings are important because you must attach these to your curtains before hanging on a pole. The loop sits on the pole, whilst the clips attach to the curtain.

Making Curtains Smaller

To make curtains shorter you can either cut and and sew them up, or you can buy a webbing - that when ironed on sticks to the material in order to shorten it.
