Closet Organizers: Get The Space You Need In Your Closet

Imagine a closet that is both organized and eye appealing. You venture into your closet and are able to whatever it is you are looking for on the first try. Imagine everything folded and put away, nice and neat. You don't have to hunt for hours for that missing red pump or black dress shoe. Everything is there, right where you put it, nice and neat. Sounds great doesn't it?

The thing is, many people have cluttered or messy closets. We shut the doors of the closet and try to hide our morning frustration, but you wish you had a better way to keep things in line, orderly, easy to find.

It may not be as hard as you thought. Closet organizers are a great way to keep everything in its place. These organizers can be as simple or complex as you wish and save you time each morning when trying to find your favorite shirt or your lucky socks.

Before Purchasing Closet Organizers...

Before you ever start considering which organizer is right for you, you need to de-clutter that closet of yours. Oh yes, more than likely you have many items in your closet that no longer fit, are out of style, just never get worn. Take it all out! If you don't use it, get rid of it. There's no reason to hang on to something that you aren't going to ever wear again.

As a woman, I know that I have weird connections to some clothing. I learned long ago that my "skinny" clothes would be way out of style before I ever slid back into them. I know that sometimes women get attached to a certain pair of jeans and shoes, and although they no longer fit, we still hang on to them. A good rule to follow: if you haven't worn the article of clothing in over a year, chunk it! If it is a wedding dress you just cannot part with its understandable, just be sure it is covered and protected.

This is a very important step that many people try to skip, but it should be done. It will only hurt for a minute and you will be happy you did it once it's over. You will be proud of how great your closet looks.

Now that you know exactly what you are working with in your closet, you can now decide on which closet organizer will work with the amount of stuff you have.

Keep reading to learn the different types of closet organizers and whether or not they would work with what you have in your closet.

Wire Closet Organizers

Wire organizers are the most affordable type of closet organization available on the market. This type can be found at many online sites as well as many stores right in your local area.

Rubber Maid has been an especially trusted brand for years and they make some of the most sturdy and affordable wire closet organizers. Their wire closet organizer systems can fit in just about any closet space, big or small.

Wire organizers can be set up and in place within a few hours. They are only minorly intrusive, so they are great for dorms and apartments.

Wire organizers have many options when it comes to storage and closet organizing. Shoe racks, smaller shelves for items like hat boxes, small wire mesh baskets for small accessories like ties, scarves, and socks. With wire organization systems it's very simple to have a place to store everything you own, for less!

Wooden Closet Organizers

Wooden closet organizers are a pricier choice, but also a more extravagant designed system. Solid wood organizers can be bought and installed by a professional or self installed if the unit isn't too complex. Many times, the closet organizer can be installed with little trouble as most are already pre or semi assembled on delivery. Depending on the additional pieces and accessories you have opted to purchase, installation can be finished in a little over an hour.

Large, complex units can be a little more difficult to put together if you aren't a professional. Gigantic walk in closet types should be assembled by a professional to insure you are getting it done correctly and to actually get what you are paying for.

Another great reason for choosing a wooden closet organization is the stylish appeal they possess. These organizers are available in a number of shapes, sizes, and wood types. If you have a certain color theme throughout your room, your organizer can incorporate that color as well.

Where Can Closet Organizers Be Used?

To be honest, there isn’t a room in your house that wouldn’t be just a little more neatly put together if you added an organization system to the area. You can organize closet clutter in any room with these types of systems. These nifty contraptions can be used in your closet, pantry, kids room, or laundry room. If you have a place that has clutter and is constantly a pain to keep nice and neat, add a closet organizer and get the space you need.

I try to keep my closets as organized as possible, but just wanted to add my opinion. If any of you need organizational help in your closet, this hub has some great advice. I have a few closet organizers in reach-in closets and I can't tell you how much they help. They really are worth the investment. Personally, I prefer the wood closet organizers, but there are many different kinds to choose from depending on your budget. Thanks for the info and the video!

I appreciate this hub, although my closet is organized, I still picked up a tip, or rather a reminder, toss items that were not used in over a year. I must go in my closet and do just that soon. Thanks Stephanie for that very useful and informative hub.
