Why Use White?

I love white on white. Anything white I think it looks great. It’s so crisp, clean and dreamy looking reminds me of winter all year long. Lighten and brightens a room. Any kind of sofa you have can be turned white with slipcovers which can be actually better to use if you're going white. They can be taken off and washed.

Like most of us we have kids and pets and it may not be the best thing to go white in your whole house but you could always do one room. You can also just put touches of white around a room. Just a bed done in white is pretty and looks cozy in a bedroom.

You can see from the photos on this hub, not all items in the room have to be white. The fireplace in this picture isn't white but looks great in the room. If you look in the corner you'll see a spinning wheel.

I'm not crazy about winter snow, but the first snowfall is so pretty, fluffy and dreamy looking

Kitchens in white.

Kitchens can also be done in white. If you have an old kitchen, paint your cabinets all white, all trim and walls white. We're all trying to save money and many of us don't have much nowadays. Whatever you can do to redo your home on the cheap is the best way.Paint is cheap and goes a long ways.

This kitchen has a little green in the chairs, but they can easily be painted white. I like the green or any other color such as pale yellow would also look nice with white. Pale colors seem to be the best look to keep with the dreamy white idea.

Natural and Neutral Looks Good With White

Buy anything and paint it white. Little ladders standing around are cute and good to use for books.

Old dressers are lovely done in white. Nothing has to match. If you have any old piece of furniture paint it white and many of it's flaws will disappear.

Bedrooms can be done in white just by doing all your bedding in white and crisp curtains or sheer white curtains.

Natural items or neutral colors added with white are pretty like the string ball and wreath.

The neutral colors of the pillows and throws in the living room above.

The ideas on how to do white in a home are endless. If you're just not up to doing the whole house than just do some pieces in the house in white.

I have the dresser in the barn. It’s old and doesn’t look the greatest right now, but a little white paint and it would look so cute in a girls room. It’s a dressing table dresser with the big mirror and a bench

Chairs in white

Old chairs are in yard or rummage sales everywhere. Little benches also or they can be easily made.

Don't be afraid to bring the outside in many pieces of lawn furniture look good inside and painted white. Anything in a metal can be painted white. A large lawn rooster painted white to put in the kitchen.

Have a slouchy old sofa cover it in white.

Hang white platters or plates on the wall.

Table With Different Chairs.

Many Items Can Be Done In White.

Paint knobs white or hooks for hanging coats.

Suitcases always look nice for night stands or beside the sofa, paint them white. Suitcases are also great items for storage in a small home.

Paint any kind of old chandelier white add crystals and watch the sparkle in the room.

Cover an old chair in white or put a slip cover on an old chair.

Footstools covers in white. They can be made and just put over the top of the stool.

How many times have you gone to a yard sale and found old tables and chairs? They can be an ugly cheap set but if you paint it white it could look like the table and chairs below. Chairs don't have to all match, paint each chair white. I can't tell you how many times I have seen those old maple table sets people are just dying to get rid of. Let's see when were they popular in the late 60s and 70s? Painted white they would look completely different. Mix and match, use your imagination.

White Books No Problem

Old books cover them in white for the bookshelf either in paper or use all white fabric in different designs.

What can I paint white? Here are some ideas.

Picture frames paint them white and add a mirror or just for your pictures.

Paint a wreath white made from anything for instance pine cones they're free and can be put out all year. Sugar Gumballs also make a pretty wreath

Small wire or wood bird cages. This bird cage I bought for a $1.00 at a yard sale.

Any kind of tool

candlesticks

Wood cross

Bring in some birch logs

Mirrors

Wagon Wheels

Tree branches

Wood hearts

Stars

Any kind of furniture

Boxes

Letters or numbers for the wall

Baskets

Old lamps in white. If they're not white paint them.

Candle lanterns are all over the place now buy one paint it white.

White plush throws are everywhere.

Barnstar in white

Clear jars for the bathroom filled with all white soap, cotton balls, q-tips, make-up sponges.

At Christmas time buy white ornaments can be used around the house all year long.

Finial Garden Ornament in white

A baby's room can also be white. This room is lovely. Take a look at the baby mobile above the crib made of origami birds and a tree branch.

Christmas In White

I love this picture. Look at the wallpaper, it's just a natural and white design. The coffee table looks like a cheap table painted white. Throws and pillows in white. The mirror frame in white and the curtains in an off white. Muslin is always a good fabric to mix with white and it’s very cheap. It has the natural color. Make pillows for a room out of old white sweaters put natural color buttons on them.

Hope this hub has helped you decide if you can go white in your home.

Be proud of your home even if you're renting or own. All homes have their own charm even shabby old houses. If you try to love it no matter what you can make it beautiful. Make your home cozy, comfy and warm.

Think of military wives, they have to change their decor all the time put little touches of warmth in each place they live in makes a big difference. Stop waiting for that expensive set of furniture you want, do your own thing.

I love white, too. My house is mostly white walls, inside and out, but I have pops of color in each room... except the bedroom. It took me almost 3 years to complete (while I slept on the couch...) There everything is white with gold trim. Then the accessories are mostly pastels. The ceiling is an exception, painted an ice blue. I have a hub page on it, titled, Pack Rat 101 - More is More.

I really like this hub. I love to make white my background color when decorating. I think white makes a great canvas for other colors.

I've already pinned this to my 'Interior Design' board, and now I'm going to pin it to my 'Christmas II' board -- when I get to 300 pins on a board I start another one because I find it so tedious to peruse boards with hundreds and hundreds of pins, so I keep mine to 300. So now I have 2 Christmas boards.

Going to vote this up and awesome because it's one of my fav hubs, and I'm sharing again with my followers.

moonlake: How creative your are with white! I love your suggestions and I truly have never thought of having a white room or a white Christmas. The Christmas trees really pop out in an all white room. Never thought of that. Your suggestion of white slip covers is great for putting on the furniture. It does give a fresh, clean feel to the room. I like the white with a small pop of color in it. And white and beige or natural is beautiful together. I am amazed at what you have done with simple white paint. That you for your suggestions and the photos are all beautiful!

Your photos are beautiful and make me want to go on a white painting spree! My husband has liked the look of dark wood and white upholstery lately, which seems ironic considering he's prone to spill things on the furniture! I agree that white slipcovers are the best since they can be removed and washed. These are great ideas. Thanks!

I like white a lot, and often paint furniture white to add sparkle to a room. Love the idea of the white suitcases as a night stand! I think of all the rooms, the white Christmas living room is my favorite. I love white and gold together - it is so elegant! The green tree in the corner of the other room gives it just the perfect lively touch of color. Voted up and shared!

Well-done article, and lots of creative ideas for those who enjoy this monochrome decorating scheme.

It's not for me, though. After too many years of living with "landlord-white--no-you-cannot-paint," and an ex-husband who hated to paint and liked the ugly dark paneling in the house we had...sorry, but I'm all about rich, warm COLORS. White (and dark color) makes me feel cold.

Beautiful hub with lots of great ideas. I've always been attracted to white rooms because of their brightness and currently have white bedroom furniture including a white rocking chair. I used blue and neutral accents to give the room a casual, nautical theme.

I love the look of white but with our pets...not an option for us at this time. The tip of painting old furniture found in yard sales is a great one. A very interesting hub. I have toyed with the idea of changing my bedding to all white. Right now I have pale green and aqua in the room and it is very restful, but I think white bedding would look lovely with the accents being aqua. All of this puts me in mind of my two nieces' cottages on Lake Erie - where they have used a lot of white and blue to mirror the lake. So restful. Thanks again for the ideas. Voted up!

I love white rooms! They look so elegant, clean and fresh. I opted to have my kitchen in white. With hubby being a race car driver/mechanic, grease is a big part of my life. Au fait, Thank you for stopping by and reading the hub glad you enjoyed it. When we built our house we painted all the walls in the house white. It looked nice but I later did add some color. Thanks for the vote and share. I appreciate it.

Really enjoyed all the ideas in this hub. I love to paint my walls shocking snow white. White walls brighten the room, make the lighting go further, and they make a great background for everything else. Natural wood trim looks spectacular with snow white walls and you can add as much or as little color as you like in the accessories.

Voted up, useful, and beautiful. Will share.

Actually, I think the pale green chairs in the kitchen are the perfect finishing touch. They echo the green of the plants.

With four black cats, three of them long-haired, going white is definitely not an option in my case! :)

Hi Moonlake, the pictures look great.

The beauty about painting white is that your can decorate in any color. I am a color person myself, don't mind a background of white and few splashes here and there, but I like bright colors.

I am redoing my bathroom and after a long debate, I finally decided to have the bowl, basin and shower in white. I thinks I'll use white wall and floor tiles then I'll paint in a brighter color. I'll accessorize in color.

I like your hub, good tips.
