Cutting Memory Foam to Fit a Dog House or Dog Bed

You are probably guilty of wanting to make sure that your beloved pet has the best possible when it comes to its sleeping arrangements. Just because your little friend is an animal does not mean that it would not enjoy staying warm and comfortable during the night. In addition, if the pet currently has an uncomfortable dog house, it could experience a lot of joint and muscle pain. Since this pain can be avoided, you should make sure that you are getting the memory foam to fit perfectly inside of the house. This way, there will not be a section of the dog house where it will not be comfortable and protected from pain.

Some people might think that cutting the memory foam to size would be a hard task. It really is not all that bad though. If you have a measuring tool, a stencil and a quality electric cutting knife, otherwise known as a meat carving knife, you will be just fine. The cutting really is simple so you want t o make sure that you are giving it a try. Your pet and its comfort is certainly worth the effort.

You will first want to make sure that you are taking careful measurements of the inside of the dig house. This will ensure that you will be able to get the best cut possible for the dog house. If you are having a little trouble with the dog house measurements, you can always flip it over and trace the outline of the size and dimensions of the dog house directly onto the memory foam.

Now all you have to do is to break out that electric knife and begin making your cuts. You want to be careful in paying attention to any strange cuts or uncommon dimensions and shapes. Even if you have not done this before, it is good to know that it is a very easy job to complete. Of course, if you were trying to cut the memory foam with a kitchen knife that is not electric, it would be very had and possibly even dangerous if your had or the foam bed slips.

Once you have the memory foam mattress cut into the perfect size and shape, you can place it snuggly into the dog house. You may find that small additional trimmings of the foam bed is needed in order to make sure that it is perfect fit. All and all this should not take a very long time from the beginning to the end of the foam mattress fitting. Before you know it, your dog will be knocking you out of the way to make sure that he is making it to his foam topper bedding. Your dog will feel the difference and will finally be able to get the sleep that he deserves.

Do make sure that you are keeping the memory topper clean, especially since it will become very dirty inside the house of a dog. If it ever becomes time to replace the memory foam mattress, at least you will know exactly what to do to make sure that the dog has as much comfort as possible.

My 16 year old cat would love it too. I use this type foam and make my own pillows, I chop it up in pieces. I bet I have at least 8 new pillows I can't stand and there is nothing like the chopped foam, and washable too. Good hub.

Hi Polly, thanks for stopping by! Yeah, cats would love these beds too I bet, I just have more personal experience with dogs so that's how I focused my Hub :) Also: Good for you for being pro-active and making your own memory foam pillows! That's really the best way to do it, if you are able; nothing beats the combined feeling of a soft memory foam pillow, and the knowledge that you made it all by yourself!
