Recommended Reading
When you are making your plans for your garden, you will save yourself alot of needless worry, if you know what the plant zone for you area is. The chart below, and the the frost dates will help to clear up any doubt you may have.
The higher the number on the chart, the warmer the climate, and the zone is warmer, so more fragile heat loving plants will tolerate the conditions for the area.
But the lower the number on the chart, the colder the climate, so the zone if colder then only plants that can tolerate cold weather, will survive the winters in the area.
Make sure that you read the labels on any plants that you are buying so you will know if it is recommended for your area. Some garden centers will sell beautiful colorful plants as perennials, when in reality they are not perennials for your particular region.
Save money by reading the labels on the plant before you buy. If in doubt ask for assistance, and keep a note with you about your zone when shopping so you won't forget your plant zone number.
