At least wine, in limited quantities, is most likely not fatal. Look at how we are changing our drinking water, this is fact based. (check the links)
Why have WE poisoned our water supply? This has become a serious problem; forget Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," we are currently living in a world where we are poisoning our own water supply.
1) Petroleum: Dumped into the water, poured onto the ground
2) Sewerage: Dumped into our waters, by boats, by aircraft, by treatment plants
3) Pharmaceuticals: Flushed whole down toilets or consumed by the body and not broken down
4) Heavy Metals: Entering the sewers through industrial processes
5) Radioactive Isotopes: Entering the waters through defective reactor cooling and now we must consider Radon entering the aquifers because of fracking
6) Natural Gas: Again, due to fracking

Now many people are concerned that we are recycling sewerage as drinking water, this is not true. There are parallel water mains in use yes, but they are clearly marked (U.S.A.) and used for process and irrigation purposes only. We need to act soon, this planet has a limited amount of clean water and what ever we add to it will stay in it, whatever we take out of it, will need to be disposed of and properly. Desalination equipment, this is of equal concern to me as fracking, reason being is that most of the salts are just disposed of back into the waters from which they came, thereby increasing the salinity of the waters.
Two drawbacks to desalination have been the high cost of the energy needed to operate the plants and the safe disposal of the plant's highly concentrated salt byproduct. Researchers are finding new ways to desalinate water with less energy and ways to dilute the concentrated salt so it can be safely returned to the body of water it came from and not harm marine life.

This report on our water, our most precious resource, is a compilation of truths I know about the water we drink and I have found other reliable sources to post here for your information. A real tragedy though is that many people are so concerned about the quality of their tap water that they have joined in the movement to devour everything bottled water, this too could prove to be a costly alternative not only financially but also health wise as minerals that our bodies thrive on are stripped and then re-added.
I added this about the Feds who regulate our drinking water, both tap and bottled, from their page it reads: "
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are both responsible for the safety of drinking water. EPA regulates public drinking water (tap water), while FDA regulates bottled drinking water.
FDA has set Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) specifically for bottled water. They require bottled water producers to:
- Process, bottle, hold and transport bottled water under sanitary conditions;
- Protect water sources from bacteria, chemicals and other contaminants;
- Use quality control processes to ensure the bacteriological and chemical safety of the water;
- Sample and test both source water and the final product for contaminants.
Defining "Bottled Water"
Under FDA labeling rules, bottled water includes products labeled:
- Bottled water
- Drinking water
- Artesian water
- Mineral water
- Sparkling bottled water
- Spring water
- Purified water
- reverse osmosis water
Waters with added carbonation, soda water (or club soda), tonic water and seltzer historically are regulated by FDA as soft drinks.

Installation of ion exchange equipment, reverse osmosis equipment, even filtration equipment deemed point of use such as the Brita is better than leaving this all to chance. We are indeed in for a showdown on all things drinking water one day, indeed this is nothing new, water has been fought over for millenniums, but we must enact real and enforceable laws to protect our source water or no life form that is sustained by clean water, will one day, cease to exist. When that day comes who knows, then again just look around, the signs of "Death in the Water" are already among us.

On the other hand, bottled water is not as strictly regulated under the FDA. Bottled water regulation is also filled with loopholes that allow some waters to be unreliable. For example, water that is packaged and sold in the same state is exempt from FDA regulations, and that includes 60-70% of the bottled water sold in the United States (NRDC, 1999).
FDA’s review chemist in food safety, Lauren Robin, explains, “If it is produced in Maine, and sold within Maine, it is not under FDA jurisdiction. We regulate products that are in interstate commerce. That means products that move from state to state,” (Soechtig, 2009).

Poisoned drinking water, this Chromium, Hexavalent, is a known carcinogen and has now turned up close to my home and in the groundwater, poisoning drinking water wells.
