Get Help With Down Payment & Closing Costs
Local Cities and Counties are now offering assistance for first time home buyers to help with down payment assistance and closing costs. “Program candidates are first-time home buyers or those who have not owned a home in more than three years, and want to purchase a home in Scott County.”
Other counties across the nation are also offering similar programs to get first time home buyers into a home. Typically, the amount of money starts at about $5,000 to $10,000. Some programs offer as much as $25,000. The exact requirements vary by who is offering it although most of the core requirements are about the same.
There are Some Requirements
For example, there typically is an income requirement that has to be met. If you have a low income of less than about $90,000 a year for the entire household, you just might qualify. One of the programs available in Orange County limits the income for the borrowers who will live in the home to $98,785. Each entity offering down payment assistance usually has specific guidelines that need to be met to get the money.
The Florida Bond Program.
One of the easiest to get in the State of Florida, is the Bond program. Most banks work with this program and your realtor might know if you qualify for it. If you don't live in Florida, check to see if your state governement has a similar program.
There are many, many other programs available. The first time home buyer has so many choices especially if they have low to moderate income.
