How to Make Household Cleaner - A Multi-Purpose Recipe with Vinegar

Source

All you need is a bottle of this household cleaner and a microfiber cloth and you will be well on your way to cleaning most of the surfaces in your house!

1/3 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup rubbing alcohol

3 1/2 cups water

5 drops of tea tree oil

1 32 oz. spray bottle

Pour all ingredients in a 32 oz. high quality spray bottle and shake to mix. Use to clean most surfaces in your house including mirrors, counter tops, sinks, toilets, etc.

Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol is a disinfectant and an antiseptic. It also cleans away oils and impurities.

White Vinegar

Vinegar has strong antimicrobial properties. One test by Good Housekeeping's microbiologist found that 5% vinegar is 90% effective against mold and 99.9% effective against bacteria.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has only recently been scientifically investigated for it's properties. It is believed to have antivirul, antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties. According to the Journal of Hospital Infection, tea tree oil is also active against Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA (a strain that has developed resistance to antibiotics).

Additional Tips

  • Use this household cleaner and a microfiber cloth to touch up your bathroom in less than five minutes. Spray cleaner on mirrors and faucets, then polish with cloth. Then spray cleaner on counter tops and sinks and clean with microfiber cloth. If necessary, dampen cloth at this point to loosen any stubborn scum. Spray all surfaces of toilet including under the bowl and around the floor. Begin by wiping back of toilet and top of lid working your way down to the floor.
  • This multi-purpose cleaner can be made without tea tree oil, I just prefer to use it it for the added benefits listed above.
  • Add other essential oils to add a pleasant scent. I like to use peppermint in winter and grapefruit in summer.
  • Squirt dirty marks on your kitchen floor and wipe with a cloth for a quick floor clean up.

This looks great. I think being less dependent on store bought cleaners is a good thing and when you mix it yourself, you know what's in your cleaner. Voted up, useful, and sharing with followers.
