How to Create a Homemade Fly Trap

What You'll Need:

  • 1 Empty plastic bottle of any size
  • A Razor Knife
  • A large cup hook
  • Fly bait granules (bought at a feed store)
  • 1/8th cup measure (coffee measure)

Tired of having flies inside your house? Then here is a simple way to keep the flies away from you and your family, make a homemade fly trap.

What You'll Need:

  • 1 empty litter soda plastic bottle of any size
  • A razor knife
  • A large cup hook
  • Fly bait granules (bought at a feed store)
  • 1/8th cup measure (coffee measure)


  1. Get the empty plastic bottle with a screw on lid
  2. Use the razor knife or other sharp object, and make 3 inch to 4 inch from top of bottle and remove a three inch square. On both sides leaving a strip to hold top and rest together.
  3. Insert a hook on the lid
  4. Put a square of folded paper towel into bottom of bottle and add fly bait granules from a feed store, approximately 1/8th per cup bottle.
  5. Place the fly trap any place you want either inside or outside the house. Make sure you check when you have to refill the fly trap bottle.
