How to store those plastic grocery bags

Storing Plastic Bags

The plastic shopping bags from Food Lion and Wal-Mart were overtaking my home.  So were the metal coffee cans.  (I try to use and reuse everything!)

Solution:  Store bags in coffee cans.  Here's how to make a bag dispenser:

Fold the plastic lid from a metal coffee can in half.

Cut a straight line in the lid, about 3/4 the length of the folded lid.

Unfold the lid.

Fold the lid in half again, this time cutting another straight line opposite the one you cut before.

Open the lid.  The cuts should look like an "X" in the top.

I also trim around the pointy edges, cutting a circle in the middle where the tips meet.  This just makes it more comfortable when you reach in to get a bag.

Now, start stuffing those bags in there.  Believe it or not, you can get between 80 and 90 bags in a regular size coffee can.

We keep one in our cars, kitchen, garage.  This was also great to have in our baby's nursery.  Cheaper than the Diaper Genie!

This little system keeps the bags organized, available and contained.
