In The Midst Of Tropical Storm Lee.
Sunday, September 4, 2011
Our bedroom window blinds are up so that we can see the pouring down rain , and the thick dark clouds. Thank God we have our electric, but even if we would have lost it, the conditions in our home are cool.
Our television remains transfixed on a weather channel. I have not noticed any lightening, but I suppose it is out there somewhere. Our tropical storm is called Lee. My name is Lee so I am glad Lee has not killed anyone. Lee has brought in some very badly needed moisture, but sort of large ship loads of it.
Becky is laughing her head off. Our big cat Boo flops bedside Becky so that he can get belly rubs. He also likes to sleep upside down. Joann went in the living room to bring Becky's wheelchair in the bedroom.
Our home feels secure like a big ship in an open sea of heavy rain , but there is no flooding . Well sometimes the rain pours , but it comes, and goes . Lee is a rain maker mixed with winds, but the winds are truly tropical.
We do not have hurricane winds in this storm. Well at least we have not received any. I have heard that some poor souls have had flooding in a few dozen homes, so I pray it does not hurt people any worst than what it is. Lee is as easy as pie, thank God.
Our cat Peanut decided to come indoors to stay over night. She has been sitting by a kitchen window watching the rain all night.
When we all made it to the kitchen , Joann began brewing some morning coffee. This morning I did not feel like making biscuits because we had some left from yesterday, and because Joann baked some potatoes in the microwave oven.
Becky was unhappy a bit because her grandmother will not be coming this Sunday. She never goes anywhere in the rain. She has years on her, and I guess she gets sick to easily. I had bought some Italian sausage to cook with different cheeses , and with noodles , and gravy especially for her because she likes traditional Italian food, but we may cook it anyway because Joann, and Becky love the stuff. It was a special recipe from Wolfgang Puck. We bought a special cooker, and a recipe book from Wolfgang that was offered on one of those television channels that sells everything. One day I will share the recipe, but it is best to buy the cooker to use it. It was a one hundred and fifty dollar cooking device. If anyone is ever interested in it I will try to provide the specific information about it.
We have never tried all the recipes that come with Wolfgang's recipes. I collect lots of cook books. I wish I could cook all the stuff I use to cook, but my right hand needs to get better.
I purchased batteries, and I am glad we have not had to use them. The weather has breaks between windy times. The storm is not to bad at all. I think my prayers have been answered, and I am glad New Orleans is not getting hit hard. Poor souls there do not need and ocean in their back yards.
Today I will more than likely rest, and rub my tortured hand. I can't wait until I see my doctor on the twelfth day of September. He will more than likely have and x ray of it. I have a hunch it may have some torn ligaments. I use my hands a lot in cooking for the family. I pull a lot of cooked chicken from the bones for Becky, Joann, and for our cats because they all love chicken. I cut up chicken a lot. I wonder what the doctor will do.
Joann helped me to make biscuits with my left hand. I usually use my right hand. Becky is waiting for something to eat in the kitchen. I think I will go in the kitchen to help out. The cats are wanting something to eat anyway.
The rain is coming down steady. The main power line seems to be far enough away from limbs this time. I was worried that a bad limb might cause a problem, but everything looks fine.
Our car is doing fine under a shed I built years ago. I take it out once in a while to keep the battery charged. You just can not leave a car without running it once in a while. After a few days, a car should be used to keep the battery charged. My battery is new, but I run the car once in a while anyway by going to the post office.
Joann has not been driving much. She takes a lot of medicine for different problems so she stays pretty much in need for rest. I do a lot of housework, and I tell Joann to get her rest, and ton sleep as long as she needs to sleep. She wakes up primarily when Becky needs to have her clothes changed. Becky can not dress herself, or clean herself so Joann takes care of Becky. If Becky needs to be lifted , I will help, and together we lift Becky so that Joann can change Becky's underclothes .
I always thank God when my family, and friends are doing O.K. There is much in life that can inspire people. Life is about so many challenges.
I think we have a good life even though Becky has her difficulties. I thank the good Lord that I can be at least somewhat helpful to those I love.
In a few day I believe tropical storm Lee will be over. We are doing fine, and I pray better weather comes for everyone.
God Bless Everyone.
