My Lampshade

That Unique Lampshade

I was in an antique store in Red Wing, Minnesota when I saw IT! It was an unusual lampshade made of silver metal mesh with a gold metal mesh bow. I don't know how old it was, I just know that it spoke to me! It was unique and was a perfect choice for my dining room decor.

I don't usually shop for lampshades in antique stores. Old lampshades don't usually appeal to me, but this treasure had an old-fashioned yet modern look to it. It was just not your typical lampshade! I had no idea what I would do with it, but I knew it was calling out to me. Sale!

Finding the Base

Finding the base for the lamp was my next project. I knew that a simple base would be best. Anything ornate would downplay the lampshade. A quick visit to my local Target store to browse their shelves proved worthwhile. Sitting on the shelf was the perfect yet simple silver lamp base. I have to admit that the price of the lampshade was much more than the base.

Putting the two parts together made me feel like my project was complete. I had found the match for my special lampshade. I fell in love with the lampshade even more. It sits on a corner table of my dining room and illuminates the area with a warm glow. It makes me smile when I see it perched in place. It is one of a kind and seems to feel right at home. Keep your eyes open, you never know when you will "discover" a unique treasure!

How fun, unique and interesting. I find it hard to find lamps to my liking that are different. I'm going to start trolling antique and other stores and make my own lamp. I love this idea. Voted up, marked awesome, useful and shared.
