Fortunately most patio furniture is made from hardwood, especially teak and cedar. If left for some time, the wood will take on an aged look that is preferred by some people. Never use a pressure washer though as this may damage the wood.

Canvas patio tents are a practical option and may be found at Home and Garden centers. They often have optional accessories and additions such as side panels that you can use as well. You could also do some comparison-shopping on the Internet and may find some great bargains.

Another more elaborate shelter is a gazebo a structure that can be built over the patio. A gazebo can extend your patio use through the winter months and can also be equipped with heaters, fireplaces and chimneys.

Regardless of the option you choose, it is important to remember to protect your outdoor patio furniture in the winter. Leaving it without adequate protection could become costly in the long run as patio furniture is usually very expensive and it would be much better to be able to enjoy it for many years to come.
